About

Founded in January of 2010, SE Minnesota based Copper Creek evolved out of friendship between members and a mutual love for bluegrass music. The band has been influenced by traditional bluegrass legends such as Bill Monroe and Jimmy Martin but is also inspired by more progressive bluegrass musicians such as Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent, and Ronnie Bowman. With strong vocal harmonies, Copper Creek is a unique blend of traditional and contemporary bluegrass and Gospel music.

The members of Copper Creek are: Travis Nemechek on Mandolin and Vocals, Kari Rowe on Fiddle and Vocals, Alli Nemechek on Guitar and Vocals, Brian Rowe on Bass and Vocals.

Travis Nemechek is from Byron, MN. Travis started playing guitar as a child and went on to study classical guitar in college. But after discovering bluegrass music, he picked up the mandolin and has hardly put it down since. Over the last 15 years he has played with several bands in the area but is happy to now be playing along side his wife, Alli.

Kari Rowe grew up as the youngest of five children in a very musical family in west central Wisconsin. Throughout her childhood, "The Blom Family" performed Old-Time and Gospel music as well as Norwegian folk music throughout the Midwest. Now Kari has switched gears a bit and is focusing more on the bluegrass side of fiddling.

Alli Nemechek is also originally from Wisconsin. The daughter of a music teacher, Alli has always been surrounded by music. She was very active in the music programs in her high school and went on to study music in college. After watching her husband Travis play in various bands, Alli decided that she wanted in on the fun as well.

Brian Rowe is originally from South Dakota. He grew up studying and playing piano and trumpet. In high school and college he participated in several musicals as well as band and choir but it really wasn't until he met Kari that he was first introduced to bluegrass music. That's all it took to get him hooked!

Hugh Stier grew up in southern Minnesota. He was born into a very musical family and has been surrounded by bluegrass and old-time his entire life. At the age of 19, he's already a very accomplished musician and brings to Copper Creek his own style of bluegrass banjo while also adding a bit of traditional clawhammer. His melodic sounds help to give the band the unique sound that sets them apart.

Copper Creek plays mainly in the tri-state area of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. They have played at the Southeast Minnesota Bluegrass Association festival, the Minnesota Old Time and Bluegrass Music Association Festivals, the Bluegrass Music Association of Iowa Festival, company events and many other venues.
