Leah Kahn

About

Leah Kahn is a New Orleans native, and world traveler, having toured nationally and internationally in Europe, the middle East, and the caribbean. She has blossomed into a true variety artist, performing various aerial acts, her special brand of "Kahn-tortion", and a multitude of fire acts, all influenced heavily by her extensive background in ballet and contemporary dance, and theater. Leah's credits include a spot as the featured fire performer in the films Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant and performed fire breathing and fire whip in The Last Exorcism 2. She was a featured aerialist, on trapeze as well as featured dancer for Celebrity cruises, and was most recently on aerial hoop for HBO's Treme. Leah performed in Vegas with the opening of Cirque du Soleil's "KA", and was also part of a suspension group in New Orleans performing transcendental body modification rituals. Leah has most recently joined Aloft Circus Arts in Chicago, IL as a core company member and instructor. She is excited to be joining The Biggest Little Sideshow in Reno this summer, and will be joining the Lyric Opera of Chicago this fall in the production of Parsifal.

Influences

Leah has been fortunate enough to train and work with many talented, highly skilled, and renowned performers and teachers in dance and circus arts. Most notably, with members and affiliates of American Ballet Theater, the Julliard School, SUNY Purchase, Cirque du Soleil, The Martha Graham Company, Mark Morris Dance Company, Merce Cunningham, and New York City Ballet, to name a few. Stage/Setup Requirements:

Additional Notes:
All venues must provide the performers with a private changing and stretching area. Also a private bathroom is
requested if possible. These areas need only to be separated from the public. Sharing with other performers and staff is
acceptable. If free parking is not readily available the client must reimburse the performers and rigger for parking expenses.
I will travel with expenses paid.

Fire Safety Requirements:
1).Fire Extinguishers

2) Wet towels and safety people to watch

3)A peformance area of at least 10 feet wide and 15 feet deep.

4)Clear area sectioned off 10 feet between the fire peformance area and the audience and security or barriers to make sure no one walks into the safety area or fire area

5).Permits from the fire marshall as needed

If inclement weather, fire performance may be altered at best, or in worst case scenario forfeited for safety reasons. A fire marshall is required to be there for the duration of fire performance and will be commissioned by the purchaser. On site inspection will be necessary to assess whether aerial capabilities and fire safety exist.

AERIAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Rigging onto an existing structure :
To rig on existing structures, an attachment point rated at least to 2000 lbs is required as well as a ladder, manlift, catwalk or other safe method of accessing this point. For a dynamic aerial show, floor to ceiling height must be at least 18ft. Lower riggings may still allow for ambient entertainment events. We ask that you please inform us upon initial contact if the rigging point is higher than 50ft as special equipment may be required.
Regardless of listed rating, performers retain the right to refuse service if they do not feel safe and comfortable with the provided rigging point. Pre-inspection of the rigging point prior to the event is suggested to avoid any confusion.
