About

The sound of Raven Hill begins with J.J. Fischer and his melodic phrases and unconventional chord patterns on the banjo. J.J. was a regular at the Wheeling Jamboree with Lila Lou & The Country Boys for two years in the 1970's. One of the finest banjo pickers in Pennsylvania, he lives in Spring City with his two cats and eight banjos.

Dan Nace plays the bluegrass mandolin with a distinctive pop, and his rhythmic chops are complimented with balanced double stops and strong tremolos. Dan hails from Audubon, PA

Bryan Feddish has played bass over thirty years. He has studied with Carol Kaye, Jeff Berlin and Raymond Clemens. Tom Gray is his favorite contemporary bluegrass bass man. Bryan is comfortable playing any genre of music and is passionate about his craft.

Brenda Smith grew up on a farm in Littlestown, PA listening to bluegrass and attending festivals since she was a child. Her strong lead vocals and harmony singing are 100% country. There aren't many traditional bluegrass songs that escape Brenda's memory.

Pete Smith provides vocals, plays guitar and bass with the Phoenixville bluegrass band. His bluegrass style has been influenced by the family style singing and traditional sounds of The Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe and Bob Paisley. He's also written a few of Raven Hill's original material.
