What to eat and why. A professor of Biochemistry gives you real information. Scientifically accurate but accessible and down-to-earth with a humorous approach, I writing and talk to general audiences. I give you a guide to popular media and scientific journals and how to tell when they're not on the level. The author of "The World Turned Upside Down. The Second Low-Carbohydrate Revolution," I am the least doctrinaire of low-carb researchers. All diets are good if they work but most of them don't work and explain why low-carbohydrate diets have become the default diet (the one to try first) for weight loss, metabolic diseases like diabetes, and for general health.
Our organization, a support group for people with Type 1 diabetes, hired Dr. Richard Feinman to speak at several locations in Virginia. We had a range of audiences from practicing health professionals to patients and the parents of children with diabetes, as well as group of senior citizens simply interested in the subject. We found that Dr. Feinman was able to expertly tailor his talks to each specific audience. He was able to provide authoritative information in an accessible and very entertaining way. He was able to cut through hype and misleading information to help people navigate nutritional recommendations while maintaining good humor. If you want to keep science alive in nutritional research and education, Dr. Feinman is a uniquely valuable speaker and candidate.
Prof. Richard Feinman recently spoke to a group of interested citizens on "Nutrition in Crisis: Understanding the Research,” The group was amazed and impressed with the information as well as the practical advice. Dr. Feinman is a down-to-earth, fascinating and funny speaker. While emphasis was on obesity and metabolic diseases, he briefly described his own work on ketogenic diets to treat cancer which was both optimistic and informative about the future. I would strongly recommend hiring him to speak to all interested in the current state of nutrition, and what’s wrong, and how we can straighten it out.
We recently hired Dr. Feinman as a speaker at our event. He was a huge success. Anyone that is overweight has been on dozens of diets. Usually they lose weight and gain it back. In the past it seemed there is nothing new. This is the first time we had a speaker on this subject that really had a different presentation. A mix of incredible knowledge and charming humor. As a medical school professor he knows the subject cold ...but perhaps more important he can really connect with an audience. In four years and over sixty speakers he was our highest rated ever! The Q&A session could of gone on forever... and Dr. Feinman was okay with turning his 10 minute Q&A into 40 minutes. He has a true gift of communication in a field usually filled with boring know it alls. The comment cards were filled with words from happy audience members stating variations of "...fascinating and I really learned something"
Dr. Feinman is a rare combination of true science with a fun speech. At first the thought of a medical school professor was a real turn off. But from slide one his humorous approach had everyone enjoying AND learning. He explains why most diets don't work and why most doctors don't know. And then he explains what will work! Unless most diet speakers he explains the science behind weight loss and why calories don't count. The best forty minutes on health I have ever spent with a great Q&A session that followed.
