Overview

Wooden Sleepers is a Portland folk-rock band featuring Nolan Gordin, Nik Kemmer, Phil Krug, and Carl LaRue. The band has been writing songs and performing together for the past five years, building a loyal fan base with their upbeat folk and bluegrass tunes. With their most recent releases, including debut full length 'Storm Floatin' (2018) and 'Hazy Rock' demos (2019), the band has transitioned to larger, more dynamic sound with full drum kit and electric guitars. New songs give a nod to their folk and bluegrass roots while showcasing a more progressive blend of americana, rock, and soul influences. We're able to offer up to three hours of original and cover music, all within the folk, bluegrass, and americana style. For longer events, we're also happy to learn a couple specific songs at the request of the client. Our master song list is available on request, and includes songs by bands such as Trampled By Turtles, Joni Mitchell, The Wood Brothers, Greensky Bluegrass, Fruition, String Cheese Incident, The Beatles, and more. We pride ourselves on being professional and easy to work with. Helping round out the atmosphere of an event with live music is a great honor for us.

About

Wooden Sleepers is a folk trio based in Portland, Oregon. The band formed in early 2014 and is comprised of Nolan Gordin, Nik Kemmer, and Phil Krug, with frequent special guests. They hail from California, Maryland, and New York but met in Portland in 2013 at singer/songwriter nights and on the soccer field. All members contribute to song writing and are multi-instrumentalists.

Their music spans the broad genre of folk, from softer tunes resembling traditional folklore, through upbeat chops in the direction of bluegrass, and on to modern folk with true flavor and creativity. Their combined mandolin, guitar, acoustic bass, and welling harmonies create a whirlwind of enchantment and positive vibration. With lyrical content reminiscent of travel, romance, the beauty of nature, and life in the Old west, they are sure to captivate.

Additional booking notes

We own our own PA system with speakers, mixer, etc, and all equipment required to put on a show in a small to medium venue, including outdoors. We simply require access to power and a flat area roughly 16 feet wide by 8 feet deep to set up.
