Incredible Duo!

River Twain is an engaging and fun duo! They always put together a lively set and are often able to take requests for their sets. They are easy to work with, timely, and all around just a great couple of guys! I would hire them again and likely will soon when the opportunity arises!

What to expect

Folks coming to an event where River Twain is performing are provided with an ideal acoustic musical backdrop for a wide range of occasions. We have a deep musical brotherhood as well as great friendship and connection that comes out in the way we shift and adapt arrangements and segues between songs to keep things flowing. We play music we love, and it just happens to span decades of a wide range of beloved songs.

Audiences and event planners frequently comment that our music provides the perfect backdrop to their dinner, event, or other social gathering. Its song choice, volume and our attentiveness to the ever changing dynamics in the room. We take great care in setting an optimal volume level that allows for easy conversation, while being loud enough to sing along to all your favorite songs. Truly, the secret to this is simply a combo of an ideal sound system for our group, while also watching the audience closely. If they're leaning in straining to hear conversation, their server/bartender then its too loud! If they aren't straining to hear, and they are mouthing the words to the music, the volume is both perfect, and so are the song selections! :)

We've been performing together since 2009, and while our musical brotherhood is a key element of that its also a testament to the fact that we strive to please the guest and our customer, and enjoy performing repeat events year after year because of it.

About

River Twain is a duo made up of Brad Wager on upright bass and vocal and Gus Reeves on acoustic guitar and lead vocal. Brad and Gus met in Portland, OR and quickly developed a musical brotherhood as well as their own take on Americana, which they call 'Dustbowl Soul', infusing roots and folk music with a soulful twist while hinting at their mutual upbringing on music from the 60's and 70's. Reeves contributes much of the songwriting while Wager guides the duo musically. Their mission is to keep alive the acoustic music legacy that is at the heart of America, ever expanding their repertoire with new original music and fresh interpretations of familiar songs old and new. They are based in Vancouver, WA.

Additional booking notes

We're an acoustic duo. We typically perform self contained with our own high quality portable sound system. It is ideal for a typical cocktail hour event, with roughly up to 100 guests, or a portion of a space for that matter with around 100 people. We include a wireless handheld mic for announcements or brief remarks as needed during the time before/after or during breaks for our performances. We simply need a roughly 8x12 space to setup, and a single 20A-120v circuit and we're covered from there. We can often setup optimally in a corner as well, we're easy! Let us know your vision and we'll make it happen!

In situations where we need to perform for larger groups we can certainly scale up our sound, or interface with an existing professional audio provider. In these situations (ie, festivals, venues, etc) we remain self contained on stage with regard to microphones, stands, cables, direct boxes, monitors, and only need 4 xlr lines from the audio provider to feed a transformer isolated split output of our individual sources.

Where lighting is necessary, we don't typically carry that, but lets chat! If its already provided, lets keep it simple and classy :)
