Humble Beginnings* - Untended was born in *Mike Smith's living room* in June 2025. The first songwriting sessions often featured Mike composing melodies on his *ukulele**—an unusual but heartfelt core for a rock band—before Travis and Dan amplified them into full-blown punk-rock anthems.
The "Living Room Demos"** - Their earliest recordings captured this unique blend: the intimate, confessional strumming of the ukulele juxtaposed with explosive guitar and bass. This contrast became an early signature.

From Acoustic to Electric** - The songwriting process often began with Mike working out vocal melodies and chord progressions on his ukulele. Travis and Dan would then "translate" these ideas into driving guitar riffs and bass lines, creating a dynamic bridge between soft introspection and loud release.
Expanding the Lineup* - The band solidified with drummer *Dean Pirkle* (October 2025) and lead guitarist *Derek Smart** (January 2026). This allowed their sound to grow far beyond its acoustic roots, while Mike's ukulele remained a secret weapon in their creative arsenal.

Genre-Blending Signature** - Untended's sound is defined by its unexpected fusion:
Pop-Punk Energy: Fast tempos, gang vocals, and themes of angst and aspiration.
Alt-Rock Depth: Heavier guitar layers, dynamic shifts, and intricate solos.
The Ukulele Wild Card: Mike's use of the instrument adds a layer of vulnerable, melodic sincerity not typical in their genre, often introduced in stripped-down song intros or mid-set acoustic breaks.
