What to expect

JD Boatwright offers professionalism and timeliness combined with good vibes and no drama. His band "JD and the Marchers" plays about 50 percent original tunes and 50 % covers. The artists that JD covers range from Johnny Cash to Otis Redding to Bill Withers to Grateful Dead and more. The Marcher's goal is to make everyone feel good and for everyone to have a great time. Positivity goes a long way. While onstage, JD entertains with music and stories in between songs, during setbreaks JD interacts with patrons to make each listener feel special. JD typically makes promo videos/reels/posters for shows that are open to the public. Typically brings his own PA system that can handle most opportunities. His repertoire/background/love of music allows him to play from several genres to please the audience with quality and variety. JD is typically an hour early to the venue to ensure that setup goes smooth and puts on a fun all-ages classics-filled playlist while working the room or finishing setup or breakdown.

About

JD Boatwright, born and raised in rural South Carolina, has a deep connection to the land and its culture. His love for music, rooted in the sounds of his upbringing, has been a constant source of inspiration throughout his life. Graduating from Clemson University with a B.S. in Ag Mech and M.S. in Plant and Environmental Sciences, he gained a strong foundation in both his academic and personal pursuits, blending his rural heritage with a broader perspective. This unique background informs his work, allowing him to weave together themes of community, tradition, and creativity.
Music serves as a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries, allowing individuals from diverse backgrounds to connect and share experiences. By building bridges between cultures through music, artists can continue the legacy of those who have inspired them, creating platforms for dialogue among unlikely audiences. This process fosters understanding and empathy, as different musical traditions can blend to form new, innovative expressions that reflect the richness in the mosiac of our American tradition.
JD continues the cherished tradition of celebrating rural life through music by seamlessly intertwining tranquil landscapes with the vibrant energy of his surroundings. His artistry is characterized by an eclectic mix that defies easy classification, as seen in songs like the soulful "Georganna," the spirited bluegrass of "Kitty and the Holler," and the expansive rock anthem "Waves." This diverse catalog offers a little something for every music enthusiast, showcasing JD's talent for fusing a myriad of influences. Each track is meticulously crafted to evoke a strong sense of connection, capturing the charm and vitality of rural experiences while appealing to a broad audience with varying musical preferences.

Additional booking notes

The biggest thing is I need power. I bring a PA system with 2 - 12 in speakers that handles most opportunties. I bring multiple guitars in case of emergency as well.
