My repertoire is primarily a variety of Scottish, Irish and American tunes, and range from solemn slow aires (which are appropriate for funerals, memorial services, etc) to more upbeat jigs, strathspeys and marches (for weddings, graduations, parties, etc). Also, I am always available to clients and their guests for photos or to answer questions when desired.
very good. piper arrived early and was very prepared for the rainy weather.
If you’re thinking of hiring a bagpiper for your event look no further. Don was absolutely amazing from start to finish, contacting me immediately, letting me chose what songs I wanted to be played and keeping in touch to assure me he’d be there rain or shine. This was a total surprise to everyone, including my husband and everyone was blown away! Don, you’re the best! Thank you for making my day so amazing!
Twin Lochs was hired for my nieces wedding to play post ceremony and it was the perfect touch and absolutely amazing!!!!
Of course, we hoped for the great performance Don provided, but in addition we found that Don is open, very helpful, and kind.
We had a funeral service for our mother that was held entirely at the cemetery and we were a bit lost about how to coordinate a ceremony on our own that would do her justice. Don was extremely receptive, took time to chat on the phone about our situation, and made excellent song recommendations. He was very open to one particular song that was a favorite of our mother’s – another piper we considered had shared this song was a real challenge to perform on the bagpipes, but not Don, he nailed it. His entire performance was perfect and beautiful, as he coordinated with the minister, and his transition from one song to the next was seamless.
Working with Don you can rest assured that he will thoughtfully take your specific needs into consideration, be available during the planning process, and respond to particular requests and needs you might have in the most professional way.
The feedback from our extended family and our friends was extremely positive about Don and his contribution to the celebration of our mother’s life.
We hope to use his services again!
Don's musical talent is just beautiful! He's super responsive before the event to make sure everything will go smoothly. He was very friendly and his bagpipe skills are just incredible! He helped make our wedding that much more special. Don't hesitate to hire him!
Don was a delightful addition, and added real flare to my daughter’s New England wedding!
Don did a fantastic job for our wedding! Invited our guests to take pictures with him while playing. Definitely made our event better because of it, highly recommend!
Don provided piping as guests entered and exited the church, as well as when they entered the reception venue. He was fantastic and many guests complimented us on our choice. Don was helpful and accommodating throughout the planning process!
Twin Lochs Piping played at my mother's memorial service. Don was fabulous in every way, from his responsive communication to the moving music he played! Loch Lomond was so beautiful. Highly recommend Twin Lochs Piping!
The Twin Lochs Piper was amazing at our wedding! The planning process was a breeze and he was timely and excellent. Our guests enjoyed his piping as they walked into the ceremony. He was such a pleasure to work with and would certainly recommend him for anyone looking for a piper!
There are not enough words to explain what an incredible job Don did at my wedding. He was an expert in every sense of the word. He was prompt in communication, asked the right questions, his timing was impeccable, and his playing majestic. He was the final puzzle piece to an unforgettable day. People from my wedding were still talking about it days later. Book him. You won't regret it.
The bag piping was great he exceeded what we wanted it was fabulous
Made our day and thank you Eric Gordon
Don was excellent. Song choices were perfect for our fathers memorial. Thank you Don!
Would highly recommend.
Don was great to work with - he was helpful in song selection, in checking in before the date, and was very punctual, arriving exactly when he said he would. His arrival was a surprise and it went off without a hitch. His playing was top notch and everyone was thrilled to have Don with us. I highly recommend him!
Don performed two songs at our grandmother's private memorial party. He did a great job and was super flexible while we were deciding on what songs we wanted. Thanks.
Don was great! He responded quickly and called to work out any details ... His presence and bagpipe skills were above and beyond what we all hoped for! HIGHLY recommend!
Don helped us celebrate our wedding yesterday and it was beautiful. He played while we took pictures after the ceremony and all the guests loved it. Don was great to work with and we appreciated him being there for our day. He is extremely talented and we would hire him again in a heart beat. Thank you Don!
Don was such a pleasure to work with! From the moment I hired him to the day of our wedding he was so professional and friendly. I couldn't have chosen a better piper for our event! He played so beautifully and was the perfect addition to our Scottish wedding!
He walked towards the gravesite from the woods, waiting very professionally about 100' away. When he saw the crowd gather as the service was about to begin, he played very elegantly and Richard's wife was very moved by it. As the service ended, he played Amazing Grace as he walked like a soldier back towards the woods. Overall, it was a very moving presentation, superb timing on when to play, stop and play again, and we all were SO happy with his performance. Thank you VERY much.
Don was just awesome. He made the day extra special. We will have him at our next BiG event.. Thank you so much Don
Thank you Don! You arrived early and prepared. Your appearance and presentation was first rate. Your music was that special added touch that we needed for our memorial service. You were accommodating with our last minute changes. I would highly recommend you to anyone wanting to add bagpipes to their event. Thank you again!
Thank you for your service at my mothers funeral.
I highly recommend your services . Your communication was excellent , price was very fair , and I know my Moms journey into Heaven was comforting to the sounds you provided. ☘️🇨🇮🙏
Don was extremely professional and responsive, and played beautifully. Highly recommend.
Used for a social distancing anniversary parade. He even wore the family tartan!
Thank you for making our son’s graduation special. Don arrived right on time & everyone enjoyed the performance. Gig Salad made it all very easy!
Thank you to Don for making my best friend's socially distant birthday a success!!! He showed up early to my location, followed my instructions to the smallest detail, and stayed longer to take pictures with the birthday girl. Awesome investment and surprise!
He was wonderful! He added a new song to his repertoire upon our request. He showed amazing flexibility as we adjusted the day and time and dealt with all of the challenges of a vastly modified wedding during a pandemic.
Can’t thank you enough! During this corona virus, we had so many limitations on what we could do for her. The bagpipes meant so much to all of us on that very sad day! Our cherished Scottish roots honored In memory of Our mom. Thank you
This short but very sweet surprise performance really lifted the spirits of a friend. The timing was perfect and the piping was fantastic and beautiful. Very reliable, punctual, and so talented, in addition to being a very nice person! Highly recommended for events of many kinds.
Don gave my mother's private burial an air of grace and dignity with his bagpipe music. He was also extremely professional and knew just what to do, when to play and what to play. As I told him his sounds helped my family with the feelings of sorrow.
I am so glad that I was able to add this touch for my Mother-in-laws funeral service. It was a great performance and everyone commented about what a nice tribute.
Thank you for a job well done.

Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you Frank. I'm happy I was able to add that element to your mother-in-law's service. It was a pleasure to meet you that day.
Don was great. I gave him directions to the gravesite. We were running a bit late - 10 minutes. But Don was there, on a chilly December afternoon. His procession to the gravesite was very moving, and waited until after the service to play another hymn. I contacted him several times prior to the event and he always gave a quick response. You can't go wrong hiring this man.
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you very much Mark! Your review is greatly appreciated and it was a pleasure meeting you that day.
Thank you for an amazing service. You are truly a blessing.
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you for leaving a review and choosing me as your piper. Also, thank you for your thoughtfulness you showed that day. With the difficult day you were having it is appreciated that you had concern for my comfort and had me play in the foyer of the church rather than in the cold wind.
Don set the right tone and atmosphere as friends and family entered and exited the church for my dad's memorial mass. He was conscious of the space and played appropriately. I live about a five-hour drive from where the service took place, but coordinating with Don couldn't have been easier. My mom, brother, and sister were more than happy and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Don. Go raibh maith agat!
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you for the review and for choosing me to pipe at your Dad's service Thomas. And, you are quite welcome!
Wonderful experience!
Don did an absolutely amazing job at my father's funeral. He is very professional and kind. His performance was speculator and perfect. He played outside the church both before and after the service. I asked him to play Scotland The Brave after the eulogy as he stood outside facing the alter with the church doors open. It was incredible. He followed us to the cemetery and played a variety of songs there as people gathered. He played Amazing Grace at the conclusion of the graveside prayer service. I cant thank him enough for helping me honor my father. He would've been so proud. I highly recommend Don and his services. My parish even asked me for his information. Everyone was impressed. The price for his services was also appropriate. Thank you, Don!
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you for taking a few moments to write a review and for choosing me as your piper Alexis. You and your family were all a pleasure to meet. I do not typically play during the church service, so I am very happy I was able to provide you all with that moment that clearly meant so much to you all. Thank you also for the pictures and videos!
Twin Lochs was very professional and very responsive from the start. Understood our event and made it perfect for us. Awesome job!!
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you for choosing me as your piper Gerrie. I'm very happy I was able to provide you with such a positive experience on an otherwise somber day.
So many comments on how incredible the bagpiper was. He put a very special and fitting touch on a very tough day for our family. Very easy to communicate with before the services and he was in all the right places at all the right times playing exactly what we wanted. Very talented bagpiper...I would recommend to anyone for any occasion.
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you very much for the review and for choosing me as your piper Brian.
I needed a bagpiper for my cousins 35th surprise birthday party and I am so glad that I found Don! I had also asked him for a drummer so he brought his daughter along to play with him and to watch the two of them play together was amazing! Don was very professional and helpful the whole time leading up to the event and his awesome personality made it even better! Their talent really showed and the music was beautiful, my entire family has been raving about them ever since! I will definitely use Twin Lochs Piping again if I ever need a bagpiper and I will recommend them to everyone I know! Thanks so much again, Don you are the best!
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
What can I say Michaela? This was such a fun gig I feel like I should be writing a review of the party and all of you! You all made Annika and I feel like a part of the group. I give your friendliness and fun both 5-star ratings! Annika, in particular, was extremely happy with how awesome you all were because it really helped to put her at ease for her first gig. Thank you so very much for hiring us and for all the kind words that day. I think I mentioned it, but I don't often get to hear client feedback about their decision making process, so it was enlightening to hear what you had to say. You were all great! (Thank you for the pictures as well!!)
Don is a true professional and clearly a musician at heart. My father recently passed, and it would not have been a proper Scottish farewell without a piper. Don showed up on short notice and ahead of our requested start time to be prepared. He was so very accommodating for every request (he was even kind enough to assist me, a first time kilt-wearer, with putting on my father's kilt). It was a very emotional day, but we know our father would be proud of our tribute to him. We are so grateful to have had Don play our requested songs and for him to be included in our celebration of my father's life. On behalf of me, my family and my father, thank you Don!
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you for making me a part of the service and for the very kind review Rory. You crafted quite a tribute to your Dad that day! I'm very happy I was there early enough to help out with getting you squared away in his kilt, and be a bit more than just a piper for the day.
On a day of deep sorrow on my Mother's burial at the end of the services to hear the sound of the bagpipes playing lifting my Mother's spirits into the Heavens was a joyful bittersweet moment. It was a beautiful moment.
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you for including me in your mother's funeral John. I'm glad I was able to help provide that emotional conclusion to the service.
I would definitely give this piper 5 stars. It was a difficult day but so easy to book the session. He called to confirm and ask for any details. He learned to play a song that we requested and wasn't familiar with but did an excellent job. Very nice to go above and beyond.
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you for choosing me as your piper that day Kristin. Since learning The Parting Glass for your service, I've added it as a regular tune in my repertoire. Thank you also for taking the time to review your experience with me.
He did a great job. It was my mother’s funeral and it was so nice to coordinate before hand, so day of, I didn’t have to worry about anything. He went to the church, played wonderfully, then went to the cemetery and again it was great. He played as he was leaving so it wasn’t abrupt. I would hire him again in a heartbeat. It was great to have him on such a hard day.
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you for including me as a part of your mother's services Rebecca. I am very happy you feel my playing added so much to the day, and appreciate that you took the time to review your experience with me.
JOHN WAS PROFESIONAL AND EXCEPTIONAL IN A VERY TOUGH TIME, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM !!!!
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
Thank you for leaving a review Dave! It was my pleasure to play for you and your family on a difficult day yesterday.
It was a very tough day , but Don made it a bit easier with his professional attitude, attention and of course the bag pipe music .
A true professional and gentleman.
Would give 10 stars . The music was very touching and peaceful. Highly recommended
Response from Twin Lochs Piping:
I appreciate that you took the time to leave a review Jeff! In most cases at funerals and memorial services I don't have much of an opportunity to speak to the family. I truly enjoyed the chance to get to talk to you and learn a bit about your son. Thank you for the chance to play for you and your family.

If you choose me as your piper I will look to communicate with you prior to your event in order to learn all the pertinent information. I am comfortable communicating via phone, text or email, and any combination of the three work just fine for me. I welcome any questions you may have at any time leading up to the event.
On the day of the event I typically arrive at least a half hour prior to when I am scheduled to begin playing. I survey the area to make sure I am clear on where I am supposed to play, and perform a final tuning of my pipes if appropriate. My actual performance is based on any discussions I had with you beforehand.
Following your event I am grateful for any feedback you feel compelled to provide, and am hopeful you found your experience working with me worthy of leaving a review here on Gigsalad, or on Google and/or Facebook by searching for Twin Lochs Piping.
Piping is my passion....second only to my family. As a solo piper I have competed against my peers at various highland games and stay as busy as possible with private gigs. I am fortunate to have accomplished Scottish pipers Neil Clark and David Methven as my friends, tutors and mentors. I spent several years as a member of the Colum Cille Pipes & Drums on Cape Cod, two of which as the band's Pipe Major. As a member of Colum Cille I had the honor of leading the band in competition against other bands in the region, traveled to Glasgow, Scotland to compete at the World Pipe Band Championships, and played on stage with international superstar Andre Rieu.
Having departed Colum Cille in 2020, my piping time is now exclusively playing private gigs, although I plan to make a return to competing as a solo piper for the 2021 season.
I bring any equipment needed for my performances with me.
Please keep in mind that pipes can be overpowering in smaller indoor venues. They are a one volume instrument.
