Gig Length: 25 - 180 minutes
We are a three-piece band with male and female vocals. Our original music is mostly in the genres of folk and indie-rock, but we are comfortable playing covers upon request. A mixture of original songs and cover songs is always welcome as well. With drums, bass, and acoustic/electric guitar, we can provide either a small, intimate sound, or a full volume stage show. We are happy performing in either setting.
The Hopeful Giants are a three-piece, indie folk band from the Inland Empire in Southern California, composed of husband and wife, Ryan and Kelly Skove, along with longtime friend Greg Kent.
Cut from the same cloth as The Lumineers, Bright Eyes, and Saintseneca, the Hopeful Giants bring a simplicity and straightforwardness to their music, writing modern folk ballads with easy to sing melodies.
Their first record is entitled Hawthorne, inspired by Ryan and Kelly's cozy studio apartment where all the songs on the EP were written, with Portland, Oregon's Hawthorne bridge ever in view.
Having returned from their hiatus in Portland back to their home in California, the band has set their sights on engaging the local music scenes of Pomona, Claremont and Riverside, and the surrounding areas.
