Coming from a background of vocal study and performance, Talisha Holmes offers professional, energetic showmanship and musicianship. Expect a great time of rollercoaster emotions!
Talisha has experience as a front woman in party, wedding, special event, and corporate event bands. She also does duos with an accompanist for more intimate shows. She does performances that showcase her music, but also loves performing the work of others.
About
Talisha has been committed to the art form since her first love of choral music and art songs, to jazz (in jazz bands since the age of 15) and soul, blues, folk, rock, house and other popular music. She's been writing and performing as long as she can remember. In recent years, she has opened for/appeared in a variety of performances including:
Dwele, John Legend, Angie Stone, Eric Roberson, Donnie, Bobby Valentino, Darien D-Brock Brockington (of Foreign Exchange tour), Rick Ross, Kelly Price, Anthony David, Talib Kweli, Anthony Hamilton, Styx, Stephanie Mills, Ohio Players, Pharez Whitted, and others.
Evidence of her love is in her long list of performances - from Chicago's Buddy Guy's Legends, to the Mondsee in Salzburg, Austria. Columbus venues include The Capital Theatre Riffe Center, Brothers Drake, Skully’s Music Diner, The Lincoln Theatre, and many
others (including The Columbus Jazz and Rib Fest, The Columbus Arts Festival, ComFest, Hot Times Festival, Creekside Jazz and Blues Fest). In Nashville, she's performed at the Battleground Smokes and Spirits, Amber Falls Winery, Venue 109, Papapalooza Blues Festival, and other stages and events. Her voice-over work includes sessions for Discovery Channel Germany (Life Coach-Stirbspater Lee Langer), Circa Music, Procter & Gamble, United Way, West Virginia SL and Wendy's.
You may have seen her performing with Chris Shaw, MOJOFLO, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Evan Oberla Project (EOP), and other local groups. You can find her performing in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio with local bands The Liquid Crystal Project, Topher
James and the Biscuit Brigade, and many others including her own Talisha Holmes Ensemble. In Nashville, she's worked with many jazz, blues and soul musicias and bands (Don Adam's band, Cojo Ko, Kyra Curenton to name a few.) She has two EPs available: Blue Thought, and Follow.
No matter who is on the bandstand, Talisha Holmes is known for giving both an energetic AND intimate show. She specializes in an eclectic fusion of jazz, soul, pop, folk, electro and rock. They love to dive into the music, and allow it to take on the shape of the musicians, the audience, and flow of the show. She also knows how to take things straight ahead in any of those genres.
