What to Expect
I play a variety of genres and can tailor a performance to your needs. I am self sufficient and will bring my own sound system. I am a professional and am on time and ready when needed, but flexible with changes.
Another type of event I enjoy is providing educational programming at libraries, adult living centers, book clubs, etc. I like to give information about the history of the music and answer questions about the various flutes I play.
About
I grew up in Florida and studied flute with Geoffrey Gilbert, past principle of the London Symphony. After graduating frpm Stetson Univ. I moved to Minneapolis where I began a 17 year career as a travel consultant while feeding my love of music by forming a flute and guitar duo called Poco a Poco. I married my college sweetheart and we eventually moved to Hickory, NC where we raised our three children.
After moving to Hickory I became a certified Suzuki flute instructor and taught private and group lessons for over 20 years. Throughout the years I have played with the Western Piedmont Symphony's chamber orchestra, freelanced at weddings, parties, The Biltmore House, churches and corporate events, enjoyed being a member of the band Puddingstone, the duo Tapestry, the contradance band Down the Hall, and the Celtic trio Soula. I have become quite fond of Celtic music and in the last ten years have purchased an irish flute and several whistles, attended Irish music weeks at the Swannanoa Gathering and Augusta Heritage Center and dedicated myself to private lessons with the well known Irish flutist, Kevin Crawford. I love stretching myself and am always looking for an adventure. In addition to playing my flute I am the proprietor of two on-line Etsy shops - one sells vintage clothing and accessories (Vintage Runway), and the other sells vintage quilts and other linens (High Cotton Vintage).
Additional Booking Notes
I have an easy set-up and only require a chair for myself and for anyone else playing with me. I will bring lighting, mic with stand, and amp.
I do require access to electricity.
If playing outdoors I do request some kind of covering.
