We play weddings, private parties, corporate events, festivals, venues and house concerts. Book us as a duo, trio with bass, or full band.

For weddings we play the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. We take requests, and we'll learn your first-dance song.

Booking information

Price range: Starts at $300

What to expect

Two musicians, four instruments: Isaac on guitar and banjo, Brielle on mandolin, fiddle and guitar, with both of us singing harmony. Want a bigger sound? Add a bass player, or book the full band.

We play our own songs from our 2025 album alongside traditional bluegrass and old-time tunes and covers. We take requests and will learn your song.

The sound is acoustic and easygoing. It works as background music for a dinner, cocktail hour or party, and it holds up as a listening show at a venue or festival. We can keep the volume low for conversation or play it up for a dancing crowd.

For weddings we can play the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.

As a duo we take up little room and set up quickly. We bring our own instruments and can plug into your sound system, or bring our own PA for an extra fee.

About

Stomping Cactus is a Salt Lake City acoustic duo featuring Brielle Petrie and Isaac Geslison. The two have played together for years, first in bands including the Copper Kettle Band and BYU's Mountain Strings, and now write original songs rooted in traditional bluegrass and old-time folk. Banjo, mandolin, guitar and fiddle trade the lead under country-style harmony vocals, and the result is laid-back and nostalgic.

In 2025 the duo released their debut album, Stomping Cactus, Vol. I, on Westmoon Records: ten original songs led by the singles "Mississippi" and "Battle Mountain." Isaac engineered and mixed the record, David Baker mastered it, and friends from the Utah roots scene joined in on fiddle, pedal steel, bass and drums. The album art is by illustrator Ginny Cunningham.

Stomping Cactus has performed at folk festivals across Europe and at venues and festivals throughout Salt Lake and Utah Counties, including Kilby Court and the Live Daybreak Summer Concert Series.
