We hired Sorana to play at our Valentine's Dinner here at a CCRC in the Lakes Region, and she was top notch. The songs she played were beautiful, and her whole presence in general elevated the entire experience. All of our dinner guests commented on how wonderful she was!

After having to cancel our evening with Sorana last Christmas due to lingering Covid concerns and an horrific snowstorm, Sorana kindly offered to come at another time of our choice. We hosted an intimate cocktail party last evening. She played in our midst, and we were mesmerized by both her presence and her beautiful music. The music selections were varied and lovely, and she interacted with our guests, speaking of her background and also explaining the workings of her beautiful instrument. She is so easy and accommodating to work with. I would absolutely recommend Solana to provide her lovely music for your event.

Sorana is a gifted harpist! She made my daughter's wedding memorable. Everyone who attended the wedding and reception commented on how beautiful the music was and wanted to personally thank her for playing. Her accompaniment for the vocalist singing Ava Maria was truly a spiritual experience. This was a destination wedding and her communication prior to the wedding was exceptional down to the smallest detail. She picked out music and handled all special requests for the first dance, reception, and wedding. She played at the church service and was willing to relocate to the reception venue in a neighboring town. I can’t say enough good things about this very talented musician! If you have the opportunity to book Sorana, jump at it! She will not disappoint.

I hired Sorana to play at my best friend’s daughter’s baby shower. It was held at a mansion where the theme was a tea party. She fit right in with the environment and the tasteful theme we were looking for. She was on time and played for the duration we discussed. She is a fantastic harpist who was very professional, easy to talk to and pleasant. She even drove 2 hours to our event. I was extremely happy with her and would hire her again with no hestitation. I had several positive interactions with Sorana prior to our scheduled event; her responses were swift and accommodating. Unfortunately, due to extreme weather and continuing Covid concerns on the part of our guests, we regretfully mutually decided it was right to cancel the event. My husband and I initiated the plans to cancel. How disappointed we were that we were unable to hear her play. We will try again next year!

Being a music teacher myself, I had high standards going into finding music for our wedding. Sorana knew just what to do and when to do things. I didn't have to worry about a thing. Sorana was amazing at my mom’s funeral service. She created the optimum atmosphere to help us through this difficult time. It was perfect. Her music brought back lots of wonderful memories of my mom while growing up and was the perfect compliment to mom herself. I’ve gotten many compliments from family and friends that attended of Sorana’s music.

A native of Romania, Sorana A. Scarlat, nationally and internationally known harpist, began a distinguished career at age eighteen. Sorana started playing the harp in Bucharest at age nine and has studied with world famous harpists from Romania, Hungary, Belgium and Italy throughout her school years.
She appeared at the Fifth & Sixth World Harp Congress in Denmark & USA. She also performed as a soloist in recitals, concerts and chamber ensembles. She is a prizewinner of the Bucharest Music Competition, and Romanian Music Interpretation Contest. She was appointed principal harpist with Ploiesti Philharmonic Orchestra, Romania and she spent several years playing with National Philharmonic Orchestra and National Radio Orchestra in Bucharest, Romania.
Sorana presently lives in New Hampshire where she is freelancing and teaching. She also performs solo and with various orchestras in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and New York.
