What to expect
Why Bossa Nova? While Ruth can play many genres, but this offering is a curated experience for those wanting an intimate musical experience for their guests or a less obtrusive musical backdrop to their event, restaurant or creative shoots. The classics and rarely sung songs in the repertoire will add that "LA vibe", "elegant, but simple" and appropriate music for any occasion. Ruth uses her voice, trumpet and flugelhorn to portray these poetic songs, bringing out the meaning in English, Portuguese or wordless instrumentals. Duo includes piano (or guitar depending on availability).
Brazilian "New Wave" music exploded in the 1960s is very much a part of Los Angeles history and culture - many great Bossa Nova albums were recorded here (Jobim, Gilberto, Mendez) in Los Angeles amongst the fame, palm trees and ocean breeze.
About
Ruth - aka Ruthtrumpets is an active vocalist, trumpeter, pianist and songwriter in the Los Angeles Area for 8 years (Gigging professionally for 15+ years). She has had various gigs and residencies over the years spanning several styles (Bossa Nova, Jazz, Pop, Soul, R&B, Funk, New Orleans, Holiday, Mariachi etc..). Ruth performs at local restaurants, exclusive LA social clubs like the Pendry (Britely), Soho House (weho and dtla) LA athletic club, University Club in Pasadena and venues like the Mint, Sassafras and wineries.
Why Bossa Nova? While Ruth can play many genres, but this offering is a curated experience for those wanting an intimate musical experience for their guests or a less obtrusive musical backdrop to their event, restaurant or creative shoots.
Additional booking notes
Ruth has a compact setup for the duo - one speaker for vocals and piano (or guitar) with a small mixer. An extra mic for announcements/speeches can be setup as well at no extra cost.
If event is larger and stereo sound via a 2 speaker setup is preferred that is also able to be provided by Ruth, but for a fee of $50 extra.
Stage not required, can fit into a small footprint, but access to a power outlet nearby is preferred.
