Influences and inspiration

Influences
My signature style, Alternative Blues Rock 'n' Roll, is shaped by a deep reverence for the pioneers of blues, funk, and rock. I blend the timeless traditions of these genres with modern, forward-thinking energy to create a sound that honors the masters while charting its own path.

Primary Musical Influences
-Jimi Hendrix: The ultimate blueprint for expanding the boundaries of the electric guitar. His fearless creativity, raw emotional delivery, and ability to blend psychedelic rock with deep blues roots directly inspire my approach to live performance and sonic exploration.
-Prince: An unmatched master of genre-bending, showmanship, and rhythmic pocket. His seamless fusion of funk rhythms with rock intensity heavily impacts my songwriting and my philosophy on how a solo performer can command a stage with absolute presence.
-Stevie Ray Vaughan: The epitome of raw, uncompromising blues authenticity. His fiery, blistering guitar solos and grit-infused vocals serve as a constant reminder to put passion and deep feeling into every single note I play.
-Wes Montgomery: A foundation of jazz phrasing and technical mastery. His iconic use of octaves and smooth, melodic improvisation shapes how I approach the fretboard, allowing me to transition from aggressive blues roars to delicate musical whispers.
-Lee Ritenour: A major influence on my technical precision and dynamic range. His fusion of jazz, pop, and rock elements reinforces my commitment to keeping my music structurally sophisticated yet widely accessible.

The Foundation:
Gospel & Creole Roots
Beyond individual artists, my deepest influence stems from my upbringing in a gospel-centered household in Seattle and the rich legacy of my family’s Louisiana Creole roots. The emotional depth, call-and-response dynamics, and spiritual urgency of gospel choirs are baked into my vocals and songwriting. This background taught me that music is not just entertainment—it is a personal, shared experience meant to connect with listeners on a spiritual level.
