Overview

We do acoustic music for upwards of three hours. Our shows include covers and originals. Our originals draw on our roots – gypsy/russian and cajun/rock – and mix into an eclectic stew of styles. Our life stories and world views mix into a wild, poetic, non-dualistic brew of lyrics. Genres vary from bluegrass to ballads to folk to rock to who-knows-what-that-is. But always a different and memorable melody with haunting vocal harmonies. Cliches are shunned. Each song allowed to explore its own world. The covers range from classics like Johnny Cash or Bob Dylan, to more current artists such as Radiohead and Inara George.

Booking information

Price range: $100 to $400

Languages: English, Russian

Gig length: 30 - 180 minutes

What to expect

You can expect an intimate, listening-room type performance, filled with acoustic ballads, spiced up with hillbilly, classic rock, as well as foreign surprises, and lots of harmony vocals. If you enjoy connecting with the performers and hearing lyrics and song craft, as opposed to an overbearingly loud experience, we can help!
We'll take requests, but let us know ahead of time, because we work on unique arrangements and harmonies for the songs we take on.

About

Paul McCarty + Marina Gutman = Non Duo
Non Duo = Not Two... We are one.

Paul is from New Orleans (the swamp of the south) and Marina is from Moldova (the swamp of Europe). Their musical influences -- gypsy/russian and cajun/rock -- mix into an eclectic stew of styles. Their life stories and world views mix into a wild, poetic, non-dualistic brew of lyrics. Genres vary from bluegrass to ballads to folk to rock to who-knows-what-that-is. But always a different and memorable melody with haunting vocal harmonies. Cliches are shunned. Each song allowed to explore its own world.

We are not just musicians, but we are in a live relationship, recently engaged to be married. We enjoy hiking, wine tasting, and discussing philosophy. We're both creative in other fields. Paul is a visual artist and Marina is a writer. We're looking forward to sharing our music with you!

Additional booking notes

We're pretty low maintenance. We can bring our own P.A. and mikes, if needed. Or if you're already set up, we can work with that too.
