About

Julia is a freelance cellist based in Montreal, where she earned her master’s degree from McGill University in 2023, studying under the mentorship of Brian Manker. Her performance experience spans a variety of venues, including weddings, funerals, schools, and recitals, both locally and internationally.

She has performed with her Eudaemonia Trio across Montreal and in Kirchberg an der Jagst, where they received instruction and performed in concert. Julia's chamber music experience ranges from a baroque string trio under the guidance of Dorian Bandy to string quartet outreach concerts with her colleagues from Oberlin Conservatory in Amman, Jordan.

As a section cellist, Julia has worked with the 2024 National Repertory Orchestra in Colorado and the Toho Academy Orchestra in Toyama, Japan. She served as principal cellist in the McGill Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia de l'Ouest, and the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra.

Despite her travels, Julia stays closely connected to her local community. She is currently working with the Dublin House String Quartet, a group of professional musicians who started as housemates, to record a composition by a local music teacher. Julia values the relationships she builds with her audience and finds joy in getting to know them through her performances.

Set list

I would encourage you to listen to some beautiful music written for cello, which can work for all occasions:
- Bach Cello Suites Nos. 1-4
- Dall'Abaco Caprices Nos. 1-11

I also often play from a large array of popular, classic, and traditional songs.

If you would like to request a setlist for an event, I am happy to send you what I normally do depending on your event type.

Setup requirements

I just ask for 1 chair without wheels or arms in a shaded area if outdoors. I play acoustically as tradition, but am willing to work with sound tech if hired as well.
