About

Michelle Pereira (pronounced Purr-Era) is a Nashville-based pop/soul singer-songwriter whose voice blends emotional depth with commercial clarity—equal parts storytelling and soul. Originally from Mississauga, Ontario, just outside Toronto, Michelle’s path into music wasn’t paved with shortcuts or industry connections. It was built through instinct, persistence, and an undeniable pull toward music that refused to let go.

After earning a degree in Vocal Jazz and a Music Business certificate from Humber College, Michelle made the bold decision to move to Nashville in 2015—alone, without a built-in network, but with a clear vision. She immersed herself in every corner of the music scene, studying audio engineering under industry veterans including John McBride and the late Mark Rubel, while simultaneously writing, performing, and carving out her place in a city known for its high bar and relentless pace.

At her core, Michelle is a melody-first writer. Her songs live in the space where pop sensibility meets country storytelling and R&B phrasing—where hooks feel effortless, but hit with intention. She has a rare ability to translate real-life emotion into lyrics that feel conversational yet elevated, intimate yet widely relatable. Her writing isn’t about overcomplication—it’s about connection.

Over the years, Michelle has written at prestigious publishing houses including Warner Music and Universal Music, steadily building both her craft and her reputation. Her talent and dedication have earned her notable recognition, including being featured on the legendary Grand Ole Opry’s 650 AM WSM Radio, selection for the ASCAP GPS program, and winning the highly competitive Bluebird Cafe Golden Pick Contest in 2021—an achievement that speaks volumes in a city where songwriting is king.

Beyond traditional industry paths, Michelle has built an impressive and unconventional catalog through her work with Songfinch, where she has written over 1,000 custom songs for clients around the world. This experience has sharpened her ability to step into someone else’s story and bring it to life with authenticity, speed, and emotional precision—often completing songs within a single day. Her client list spans everyday people to celebrities and influencers, including Gabriel Iglesias and Alanna Panday, proving her versatility and wide-reaching appeal.

As a performer, Michelle brings the same emotional connection to the stage. With three solo cruise ship contracts under her belt with Norwegian Cruise Line, she has performed for diverse audiences across the globe, adapting her setlists and delivery to resonate in any room. Whether she’s playing an intimate listening venue or a high-end hotel lounge, her performances are rooted in sincerity, vocal control, and a natural ability to read and connect with a crowd.

In Nashville, she has become a sought-after live performer, regularly playing respected venues such as The Listening Room, City Winery, and luxury hotels including the Four Seasons and JW Marriott. Her live shows balance polished musicianship with an inviting, relatable presence—never overproduced, never distant.

Michelle’s artistry sits at the intersection of commercial viability and emotional honesty. Influenced by artists like Sara Bareilles, Adele, Tori Kelly, and Taylor Swift, she gravitates toward songs that feel lived-in—songs that don’t just sound good, but say something. Her voice carries both warmth and clarity, capable of delivering powerful moments without losing intimacy.

While she has spent years helping others tell their stories, Michelle is now stepping further into her own. With new original music on the horizon, she is focused on building a catalog that reflects her voice not just as a writer-for-hire, but as an artist with something personal to say. Her goal isn’t just to be heard—it’s to be felt.

In an industry that often prioritizes image over substance, Michelle stands out by staying grounded in what matters most: the song. Whether she’s writing for a stranger, performing for a room full of listeners, or developing her own material, her work is driven by the same intention—to create moments people recognize themselves in.

Because at the end of the day, Michelle Pereira isn’t just writing songs.

She’s translating real life into music—and making sure it actually means something when it lands.
