Overview

I help people channel the power of Hip-Hop music and culture to innovate and uplift society.

Hip-Hop is a culture of innovation, and while many know it for its entertainment value, Hip-Hop influences humanity in many positive ways, in areas including education, science & technology, health & wellness, business and entrepreneurship, politics and social justice, the fine arts, and more.

As an award-winning journalist. podcaster, and independent scholar, I've studied and talked to innovators from across all these intersections, and have collected many inspirational and motivational examples of how Hip-Hop can spark innovation in YOUR field or industry, and continue to uplift humanity.

About

Manny Faces is an award-winning journalist, podcast producer, entrepreneur, and founding director of nonprofit The Center for Hip-Hop Advocacy. As a podcast professional, Manny produces several acclaimed shows including the award-winning, social justice-meets-Hip-Hop podcast, News Beat, its companion livestream series, This Week In Social Justice, and multimedia interview show, Hip-Hop Can Save America!

News Beat was awarded Best Podcast at the 2018 and 2021 New York Press Club Journalism Awards, and the 2019 and 2020 Society of Professional Journalists/PCLI Awards, while Hip-Hop Can Save America! has been listed as “recommended material” at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Much of Manny’s work focuses on preserving, protecting, and promoting the ability of Hip-Hop music and culture to improve society and uplift humanity -- particularly in areas including education, science and technology, health and wellness, politics and social justice, journalism, entrepreneurialism, the fine arts, and more.

Manny is an accomplished public speaker who has lectured, conducted workshops, and participated in panel discussions at conferences and festivals throughout the world, and also collaborates as a teaching artist and youth mentor with organizations including Hip Hop Hacks, BreakBeatCode, and New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

In 2019, Manny launched a podcast production and consultant firm, Manny Faces Media, and he continues to produce and develop audio projects for various businesses, nonprofits, and journalism outlets, with a focus on amplifying underrepresented voices and sharing their related, often under-reported, stories.

And if none of this is impressive enough, he is also a living kidney donor, so there is that.
