Overview

"This Kid definitely got it."
-Earmilk

“Imani Wj Wright’s almost nonchalant treatment of the themes in his songs and the knowledge of his own artistic capabilities, seems fresh, awe-inspiring, and at times, even scary. And it is all laced inside some of the most mind-blowing R&B production we’ve heard in years.”
-Buddy Nelson, Music critic

“Wright approaches music from the standpoint of transparency and often positions his music for the listener to partake in his deliberate maneuvers of intellectual discourse. To engage in Wright’s music, is to be baptized in a spring of universal complexities.”
-Phinesse Demps, Indie Soul Magazine

Birthday Performance

Singer Imani Wright serenaded my illustrious guests at our backyard barbecue this past summer. The guests thoroughly enjoyed he and his special guest as they sang familiar r & b favorites while introducing us to exciting new music, written and performed by him.

We received great feedback and look forward to booking him again.

Hired as: Singer/Songwriter

About

Imani Wj Wright, a 20 year old artist from Baltimore, has been cultivating his musical skills and talents for the past 13 years. His growth as a musician includes his time on scholarship at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins, where he was honored with an “Outstanding Performance” award, and The Lyric Opera House of Baltimore, where he wrote an opera titled “Industrial Love.” He also spent an extensive stint at American University under the auspices of the Washington National Opera. Additionally, he was unanimously voted Male Singer of the Year at his high school.

Imani is also a journalist for The Baltimore Times , and the London based magazine, Stereo Stickman . He's given a TED Talk on his intermingling of Music and writing at York College of Pennsylvania. The title of his Ted Talk being: Erasing the Myths of Writing Over the last year, Imani has performed in some of the most respected venues and concert series in the United States, SOB's(NYC), and Ram's Head Live!(Baltimore,MD) being two of them. Imani and his band have also been invited to perform in several of the highly acclaimed Sofar Sounds show series. Some Sofar cities in which he's performed are Tampa
Bay,Denver,Chicago, and Calgary,Canada. He's also recently made his TV debut for his single “Home” on MTV .

Along with those accomplishments, Imani has also had mentoring from Grammy respected artists such as Khalid and Bilal. Through his various experiences in music, Imani has developed an eclectic sound that is undeniably of his unique creation. However, as pleasing as the sound is here, the listener is also dually challenged to delve deeply into the messages, ideas, and vociferous claims of this young artist..

"In Wright’s vocals, I can hear instincts like you’d find from the great purple Prince himself, in amongst a tremendously cool display of all-things R&B and genuinely honest performance..."
