Overview
Hopscotch is fun, eclectic, quirky. and right sized for your event. Jeanie Mishler is the featured vocalist, Charlie Hiestand plays piano and makes the band arrangements. They play standard covers, weird covers, and originals. The band size ranges from 2 to 7 depending on the size of your venue and your budget. With all 7 they are a mini bigband with hard swinging arrangements. For smaller gigs they can go down to as few as just Jeanie and Charlie, making for an intimate evening of song.
They know a lot of songs and can tailor a set or an evening to any mood, from hilarious spoofs to ravishing ballads. Musicianship, character, professionalism, flexibility, Hopscotch is right for your event.

Hopscotch was a lot of fun. Great mix of bossa, jazz, blues, and pop with their own unique fun style.

What to expect
Hopscotch is very accomplished and versatile. The band is designed to be able to fit any budget, and requests for repertoire, any size audience. We are a jazz band, meaning most of what we play is recognizable as jazz, but we play songs from a surprisingly wide range of styles. For example, in our hilarious selections, we cover "Material Girl" by Madonna. In our blues selections we cover "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by the Clash, a real crowd pleaser. Of course we cover songs from the "The Great American Songbook", and we take requests.
In a larger venue with a decent budget, we like to go out with a full band of 7: Vocalist, piano, drums, bass, trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax. The three horns are beautifully arranged and add a real kick to the sound, giving the band the feel of a little big band. For smaller venues we are fine with 2, 3, 4, or 5 players.
Jeanie and Charlie are the core group. We hire the best sidemen we can find. The amount of experience and musicianship on the stage for any given gig is daunting, with the 7-piece band we have easily over 200 years of professional experience.
Don't skip on Hopscotch!!
About
HOPSCOTCH is the brainchild of pianist/composer Charlie Hiestand and singer/songwriter Jeanie Mishler. They've teamed up with a great collection of Seattle sidemen to bring to life songs they've co-written and arranged in the jazz genre. Influenced by bands like Pink Martini and traditional big bands, this smaller jazz band serves up both standards and original swing, latin, and blues tunes with a touch of quirky comedy and tap dancing thrown in.
