Flatland Drive was founded in 2009 with a mission to fuse traditional, hard-driving bluegrass with modern influences.
Over the years, Flatland Drive has shared stages with some of bluegrass music’s most respected names. Through dedication and countless hours of collaboration, the group has crafted a diverse catalog of original and carefully selected material that highlights both the instrumental strength of the band and the rich, well-blended harmonies they’re known for.

July 8, 2025Flatland Drive’s performance at my husband’s 50th birthday party was nothing short of magical. The band launched into an entertaining set, showcasing their incredible musical talent and capturing the classic bluegrass sound.
The crowd roared with delight as they played “I’ve Just Seen a Face”,
singing along to every word. But they also craftily wove in traditional bluegrass songs and fan favorites, played with passion and precision. Adults and kids alike enjoyed their creative set list.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly when the guests requested “Little Maggie” and the band played and sang it expertly, even though it was their first time performing that song. Whether it was the skillful banjo playing, or the harmonies, it was a truly an unforgettable listening experience. The band's interaction with the crowd was superb and shared celebration that amplified the already vibrant birthday atmosphere.
Overall, Flatland Drive Bluegrass Band delivered a professional, entertaining, and fun performance. The audience left the party feeling new appreciation for bluegrass music and anticipating the next performance. Booking them for your next event is highly recommended.

June 13, 2024Flatland Drive was perfect for my wedding. All of the guests were raving about how fun it was to listen to them play throughout the reception. They are awesome musicians and were even able to play a song requested by my mother-in-law on the spot. The band leader was very responsive to all of my emails and calls leading up to the event and arrived early to set up, so I didn't have to stress at all about coordinating with them. I highly recommend Flatland Drive for any event!

The event was located on the North River which is a tributary feeding the Chesapeake Bay in the Tidewater area of southern Virginia. On October 1 2022 Hurricane Ian was still raging from the Carolinas, Virginia and Maryland. The exact location was level with the river and under a 1-2 foot flood warning issued by NOAA, also the governor of Virginia had declared a state of emergency. Our band was to travel 4 hours during this storm in unknown areas and weather. I spent 18 years working for the Maryland Park Service, in that time I have seen and been involved in water rescues in the bay and rivers, I know how quickly the conditions can change in a hurricane/tropical storm. The venue owner was determined to hold the event outside of NOAA warnings and The Virginia State of Emergency Management. I believe our judgement for safety outweighs her poor rating.

When hired Flatland Drive will arrive no less than 1.5 hours ahead of scheduled time of performance if we provide our pa system. For venues/events with sound, we will arrive when specified for sound check. We provide 1-3 50 minute sets with a small break in between each set. Playback music may be used if requested during the breaks. This band loves to engage the audience and allow them to be part of the entertainment. We have performed engagement parties, wedding ceremonies, receptions, cocktail hours, private parties, multi band festivals, community events, fund raisers and any venue or event looking for original and contemporary bluegrass. For weddings we have done special requests for the bridal entrance/exit and reception.
