East of Monroe, based in northern Virginia, is an exciting new force on the bluegrass and Americana scene. Their music features the award-winning songwriting of Gary Alan Ferguson (2015 DCBU Hazel Dickens Songwriting Contest winner, 2014 Chris Austin Songwriting Contest finalist, selected twice for IBMA's Songwriter Showcase) along with tight vocals, exciting instrumentals, and an upbeat, entertaining stage show. East of Monroe has performed at several prominent venues throughout the East Coast, including Graves' Mountain Festival of Music, Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, Gypsy Sally's, and DC's Metropolitan Club. Their latest release, By the River's Edge, is available now.
I grew up at bluegrass music festivals so I definitely can be picky with quality. East of Monroe created the absolute Perfect vibe that I wanted at my wedding. Everyone arrived to beautiful music and it was the best ambiance we could have asked for. They were all so nice and I continually got complimented on the band all night. We had a few bluegrass afficionados at the wedding and they all agreed East of Monroe were amazing.
