In working as both a drummer and band leader in show bands and jazz combos on Holland America Line cruise ships and on American Queen Steamboat Company, I have become very well-versed in playing rock, jazz, funk, ballads, waltzes, shuffles, sambas, mambos, cha-cha's, rumbas, songos, bossa novas, country, reggae, big band, blues, 12/8, soca, calypso, funk, etc. I have spent hundreds of hours playing fake books tunes live and have over 20 years of experience.
Price Range: $100-$200/hr
Gig Length: 10 - 480 minutes
What to Expect
I am exceptionally organized and professional. You will never have to worry about me being late or unprepared for a gig, and I guarantee my playing will satisfy.
I started playing drumset when I was 9 and began playing with professionals in jazz club at the age of 13. I have had three drum teachers including jazz legend Roger Humphries (Horace Silver's drummer). After college, I spent considerable time sailing the world in jazz trios and showbands on cruise ships and riverboats before saving up enough money to put myself through graduate school. I also have an MFA degree in Film and Media Arts.
Additional Booking Notes
None really. I'll bring my drums -- you tell me where to set them up. If there's a safety issue I'll let you know.
It depends on the gig. My repertoire is rather large: I can play anything from most Top 40 hits to jazz, to latin styles.
