After seeing Angela perform killer stand-up, I approached her about being part of my "switched-up" storytelling series, No, YOU Tell It! (noyoutellit.com). Our show hinges on the storytellers not only being talented writers and performers but also their ability to be generous with their time and spirit. We spend about a month developing the personal stories of all involved on the page before they flip scripts and perform each other's true-life tales on stage. Angela was the ultimate professional throughout the process, she shared keen insights during the story workshop meetings with the full group, plus put everyone at ease with her quick wit and kind spirit. Her story turned out fabulous, as she didn't shy away from the challenge of revision and ran toward the group's suggestion to be more vulnerable. In turn, she rocked the performance of her partner's story during the show. She made the story her own but also took care to honor the emotional core of her partner's experience. That's important to me as my shows are my resume to book additional shows and it's the sign of a true Pro.
