Alec also answered all our questions about the history of the pipes, learning to play them, how Winnipeg weather impacts on them.

June 30, 2025I hired Alex to surprise my father for his 80th birthday. What a hit! The event was the talk of the neighborhood! Alex played three fantastic tunes (Scotland the Brave included, of course) and he was gracious enough to answer everyone’s questions and allow pictures and video of the show. He was a pleasure to communicate with on this app and once he was booked. I can not recommend enough - he’s definitely my #1 choice the next time I require a piper! I began piping at age 7 under Pipe Major Bob Fraser in Winnipeg. While playing in the local youth pipe band, I was fortunate to travel to Scotland and compete in the World Pipe Band Championship, and received guest instruction from many top pipers in the world. Since graduating from the band, I've continued to play in the St. Andrew's Pipe Band, eventually becoming Pipe Major and leading the band back to Scotland.
Throughout my piping career, I have played across Manitoba at weddings, funerals, bonspiels, convocations, and everything in between. I know an extensive repertoire of tunes, and I'm happy to accommodate any requests that fit the instrument!
