Truly and awesome band! Had them perform for my dad's 70th birthday and he couldn't believe his dream came true. Last minute booking, but Albert was excellent at getting back to me so quick. He plays terrific and so the rest of the band!!! Couldn't be happier. If you need a Jazz Band, I definitely recommend them!
Thanks, Albert, once again!
We hired Albert Floyd and The Groove Zone to celebrate my mothers 90th birthday party. It was an afternoon function in a private room in a lovely restaurant. We had 60 guests of all ages. This group performed with such liveliness that it was impossible to stay seated.
They say music makes the affair, and this group certainly did that.
They were most professional in all aspects.
I look forward to hosting another event and would most certainly use this group again.
Attention All Party Planners:
We hired Mr. Albert and the Groove Zone for our Daughters Wedding Reception (6) Six Hours at the Marine Del Rey Marriott on their Roof Top Setting.
The band is very well dressed for the part and played soft entrance music while the guests arrived and again for the reception.
They were a lively group that had all our guest dancing the entire night from the start of the party through the soft dinner music accompanying the meal as well as our Daughters First dance with her new husband.
We had asked them to play music from all different time periods and they were even open to taking request from our guest which made our daughter and her guest very happy.
They played everything from Jazz, Classical, Old School Rock, Soft Rock and even some Country which our New son in-law enjoys.
This is a group that is well priced and will work with you to insure that your party is a great success.
I would recommend them to all our Friends and even to other party planners.
Thank you Once again for a fabulous time
I wanted to get a live band for my daughters wedding reception and Albert was recommended from a friend of mine. I was not disappointed. These guys showed up sharply dressed and early to set up with all the necessary equipment , making my life a little less stressful that day. During the dinner they played some soothing jazz at the perfect volume to set the mood. After dinner, they showed versatility as they played everything from jazz, blues, and rock to get people dancing. By having this awesome band it really made the night memorable that couldn't have been achieved by a DJ. I definitely would recommend Groove Zone to anyone who wants a quality sounding professional live band!
What to Expect
Quality music and musicianship. Musicians dressed appropriately for the occasion. On Time starting times. Minimal disruption to your event for set up and break down of equipment.
The sound of the saxophone is said to be one of the instruments which most closely resembles the human voice. With that said, each sax player distinctly has his own voice or at least hopes to develop their own voice as their unique sound. Albert Floyd's sound is unique upon itself . I guess that's what happens when his favorite sax players are Grover Washington Jr., Hank Crawford and Jr. Walker. Have a listen and see if you can hear those influences . His experience has led him to play in the University of Southern California's ( U.S.C.) Concert Band along side the L.A. Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl to playing at the Monterey Blues Festival with Roger Connelley and the Blues Merchants .
Albert Floyd has played many venues, in Southern California as leader with his own group Groove Zone, which have included: The Atlas Supper Club, Harvelles, Schatzi's on Main, Lunaria, DC 3, Baja Cantina, and the Catalina Country Club to name a few.
He has also played with various groups over the years which include: Big Jay McNeely, Roger Connelley and the Blues Merchants, Vern Altieri and The Catalina All Stars, Big Rockin' Daddy and Usual Suspects with the Up Against the Wall Horns, L.A. Jones and the Blues Messengers, Don Haney, Shari Puorto, Michael Morgan and the Roques, Kat and The Jazzbirds, Doc Williams and Groove, Andy Walo, Trio Kenny White and the Players among others.
He has shared the stage and performed with many greats including: Earl Palmer-Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Drummer, Spencer Davis(Spencer Davis Group), Malcolm Jones- Bass(Blues Image), Randy Meisner-Bass and Don Felder-Guitar( The Eagles), Mark Ford (Black Crowes) Peter Tork-Guitar( The Monkees), Gary Mallaber-Drums(The Steve Miller Band), Ralph Carter-Bass( Eddie Money), Patrick Moraz-Keyboards( Moody Blues), Wade Short-Bass( Dionne Warwick).
