Simply Wonderful

Birthday PartyJust a short note to let you know that you were simply wonderful at Brett's party on Saturday. Another mom and I were commenting the kids are like "Wayne groupies" - they are so enraptured when you sing, and I think alot of the parents are too! Your ability to excite them and keep them interested is uncanny. I'm in awe, truly! Just wanted you to know how many people told me how great you were. Thanks again for creating such a special time for Brett and singing all his favorites.

Overview

About

Wayne performs solo concerts, school events, fairs, libraries, fun-filled birthday parties, and he leads the fabulous Music Fun Band, which performs engaging and fun shows for kids and adults! "It's like a band for adults that even the youngest children can get into!" says one parent. Check out a review of one of our shows on the Boston Children's Music Website. Fund raisers are a specialty, and we are happy to supply our own high-quality sound system.

"What fun! And what good listening for kids or anyone!” writes Sing Out! Magazine, who calls Singer/Songwriter Wayne Potash a “master of kids’ music." A Day In The Life has just been released.

Winner of the coveted Parents Choice Music Award, Rambles Magazine writes that Wayne sings "the most memorable melodies in American music with...a friendly vocal delivery that positively begs the audience to sing along.” Northeast Performer Magazine calls his last CD Don’t Forget the Donut! “an example of great children’s music," and it is recommended by Zooglobble. His music on iTunes, Amazon, and on CD Baby.

Wayne plays fun and engaging concerts at special events, libraries, schools, fund-raisers, and parties throughout New England including Boston Harborfest Children's Day, and will be featured at the 2010 Newport Folk Fesival. Wayne’s Music Fun Band features music for the whole family, and is part of the New England Foundation's for the Arts Touring Roster at Matchbook.org. Wayne leads music programs for young children at Harvard University, MIT, Regis College, Bright Horizons, and many others.

After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Wayne began performing with local Boston bands. He joined the group X-Dreams, and reviewer Brett Milano proclaimed their first release "without a doubt the gem of the month." The band received airplay around the US and in Europe. His song "Dogs in Outer Space" had already won over audiences in the Boston club scene, but it was a surprise hit at a preschool when Wayne visited for an impromptu solo performance. Parents requested recordings of the songs he sang with the children and his first recording,"The Wayne Tape" was produced. His school programs and concerts for kids started to grow.

Wayne began hosting the Midday Show once a month at Boston's Children's Hospital in addition to working for the Community Music Center of Boston. It was here that he received the Marilla MacDill Award for Teaching Excellence and Community Service. Wayne was playing over a hundred family shows a year as a solo and with his Music Fun Band. He recorded and released his second album “Music Fun.” On the side he was also playing with the blues/rock band The Hackmasters, and The Winiker Big Band.

Wayne's third album, Yodel For A Fish, was his first CD to get nationwide airplay on children's radio shows. Yodel's big production was followed by the stripped-down Living Room Demos, which included song and story requests from his two sons, teachers, and children from his school programs.

Parents’ Choice Award winning “Don't Forget the Donut” enlisted many fine musicians including jazz man Tad Hitchcock on guitar and vocals, fiddler Amy Basse, and Alizon Lissance on accordion and piano. It received many glowing reviews.

The new CD “A Day In The Life” definitely gives a nod to the influence of The Beatles. Just listen to “After My Bath,” “Clean Down” or the McCartney-esque “I’m Going.” This is a mini-opera about the day in the life of a little kid with 24 all-new songs.

Wayne currently provides music programs for over a dozen schools and maintains a busy performing schedule. He lives with his wife Sherrill, their two boys Noah and Jordan, Jimmy and Missy the cats, and Blue the dog, in Easton, MA.

Testimonials

I sent your name out via E mail to all the children's librarians in our system, highly recommending your wonderful program to all of them! It was just wonderful having a program that all those little children could enjoy and participate in so enthusiastically! I don't remember any songs that the children didn't either move to or join in with...it was great. The Friends appreciate your donation to the funds through the sale of your CDs too. Thank you so much!

Yours,
Janet Campbell

The fundraiser with you and the Music Fun Band was one of our best. Once again, thanks for your songs, stories, music games, original compositions and most of all, the joy you bring to the children.

With love from all of your friends at The Cambridge Nursery School!

Once again you did an outstanding job with our large group of preschoolers and their parents. It was our largest gathering of the summer! You can see how you've gained a reputation in Duxbury and have a loyal following. Everyone loved the new songs, but it was also nice that you included some old favorites like Rattlin' Bog which always gets people singing. The brisk sales of your CDs after the concert showed how much the parents enjoyed your music. Thanks for your visit, we'll look forward to seeing you again!

Sincerely,
Nancy Denman

Thank you so much for making our family night one of the best so far. Your keen sense of the children's needs made each moment enjoyable by all. They enjoyed all the familiar songs along with the new ones. I think the songs you did with any kind of movement were their favorites. Please feel free to use me as a reference. I would highly recommend your performance to all. I look forward to enjoying your music again soon. On behalf of the students, parents, staff and board of the Upper Falls Nursery School, thank you.

Sincerely,
