Amazing, Fun, Punctual, Professional, Hilarious
I hired Jimmy H to perform a surprise private show for my girlfriend's 30th birthday at the Magic Castle. In searching for the right act, I blindly contacted multiple magicians to see which would have the best talents for the presentation, and learned that professionalism isn't one of the basic tenets of magicians. Many were slow to respond or didn't respond at all, even after emailing 2-3 times, didn't answer my questions when they finally did respond, some were outright rude/bordering on disrespectful, some were pushy and condescending, and some were asking for unreasonable fees (thinking they're Lance Burton or something).
Jimmy H was in a class of his own - he provided prompt, detailed responses and professional service the way that a potential client should expect. This was the first time I've ever booked a magic act, so I was completely ignorant about the whole process. Jimmy was gracious enough to walk me through it from start to finish and explain how he envisioned the performance to be. I had very particular ideas in mind for the performance (presenting her bday gift through a magic trick), and Jimmy was able to work with me to develop a set that worked for both of us - something with his personal signature style that incorporated some of my ideas for the overall performance/surprise.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist (Jimmy can tell you all about it), so I probably gave him a hard time about making sure the show went PERFECTLY. I didn't need to. After the show, all my anxieties and worries were washed away and replaced with a huge sense of relief and a big smile. Though I helped plan part of the show, the act was still very exciting, surprising, and mystifying in its presentation. He mixed comedy acts with great magic, and lots of audience participation. My friends loved it and had a blast - a bunch of 25-30 year-olds laughing and behaving like children. Most importantly, my girlfriend had no idea what was coming, and was blown away by the presentation of the gift.
But even before the date of the performance, Jimmy H impressed me with his professional demeanor and personable attitude. Before committing to anything, he invited me to meet with him at the Magic Castle to discuss ideas and to show me a sample from his repertoire. Some other things I'd like to mention are that he's always on time and was very good about responding to my lengthy, detailed emails and excessive questions. What I found of particular note was that instead of responding via email, he would call me and answer all of my questions in a more personal way - that's something you don't see very often.
So if you're looking for a solid comedy/magic act for your next event, look no further. Jimmy H has the talents/character/professionalism that will not only make it a great event, but make it an EASY event to plan too.

I hired Jimmy H for my daughters 12 Birthday Party, because she loved Criss Angel and Magic.
I was referred many many magicians from an online site. I went with Jimmy and was not disappointed. He was professional, on time, fun and a BIG HIT to the kids, as well as the Adults! Something for everyone! We had a blast!! Everyone was asking where I got him. Not only was he great, but a few days later we were surprised to see a package in the mail with a framed picture of my daughter and him and another gift for my daughter!! How wonderful was that? We were blown away at how nice he is as well as an outstanding Magician. Thank You Jimmy! We highly recommend him.

What to Expect
Typical Gig Duration: 30 - 180 minutes
Birthday party magic - Jimmy H makes a point of making the birthday child the STAR of the show. He performs a variety of different magic tricks utilizing the birthday child and their friends to be "magic assistants" along the way. All tricks are 100% safe and appropriate for kids of all ages -- even those young at heart. Jimmy H also performs for adult birthday parties as well offering a more sophisticated set of magic tricks still making the birthday celebrant a main part of the show.
Close-Up/Strolling Magic -- This style of magic is very popular is walk-around settings (restaurants, cocktail parties, picnics, wedding, etc.). Jimmy H will entertain your audience with feats of sleight of hand with small objects such as cards, coins and ropes all the while strolling around entertaining each and every one of your guests. He can also develop a routine in which a group of people can watch and enjoy the close-up magic from the comfort of their seat.
Stage & Illusion Magic -- This show is designed to be performed on a platform or stage. Included in in this show are large illusions such as sawing a woman in half, elaborate escapes, floating objects, making an assistant (or your CEO or Prinicipal) appear and disappear all with the unique style of Jimmy H. Stage and lighting are desired but not necessary for this style of magic.
