Jimi James began his musical training at the age of five playing classical music. Bach, Chopin, List, and Beethoven was his favorite childhood music. As a teenager he learned other instruments because there was no piano in band class. By the time he finished high school he was a seasoned musician in all styles of music and on his way to a life of playing it. In 1976 he joined The Sylvers and began his career playing with recording artist, Linda Clifford, The Platters, Morris Day and The Time, and more,
As a solo act he plays keuboard bass, keyboards, and sings popular music to mixed crowds.
