Harrison Brown

I am a solo, singer-guitarist. I play about half originals and half covers. I don't do the usual "wedding" set list for my covers. I pick songwriters who appeal to me as artists. I sometimes briefly explain why I think they are important before I play their song. Some are well known: Paul Simon, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen. Some are not so well known: Paul Westerburg, Lyle Lovett, Marshall Crenshaw. I try to select songs that not only have "catchy" melodies, but are lyrically interesting. Words matter and I feel that the best songs are the ones where the melody and the lyrics work together not only to entertain, but also to inform.
