Curtis Waltermire is a full-time professional magician, mentalist, and actor based in Wichita, Kansas. Forget your preconceived ideas of what a "magic show" is and experience something truly unique and memorable. Curtis' style is a refreshing blend of contemporary wit and charm, coupled with outlandish mind-reading stunts, impossible predictions, thought-control, and plenty of laughs. Curtis refers to it as "sleight-of-brain" entertainment. No shiny boxes, bunny rabbits, white doves, or scantily-clad women; it is simple, mind-bending and hilarious demonstrations that keep audiences fully engaged and entertained. It is mental magic for thinking people!
Whether it is special entertainment for your business or corporate event, restaurant, awards banquets, private clubs or organizations, or any other special occasion, Curtis has a presentation that will make any event one that people will never forget! He performs for numerous events each year nation-wide.
Like many of his fellow magicians and illusionists, he fell in love with magic at a very young age. He began performing at about age 10, and during his high school years began performing semi-professionally. He went on to study acting and theatre production at Parkland College during the late 1980s in Champaign, Illinois in order to enhance his individual performing style.
During his college years he worked for Andy Dallas (former President of the Society of American Magicians) at his Dallas & Co. magic shop. He also had the privilege of personally meeting some of his professional influences during those years, to include James Randi "The Amazing Randi", Albert Goshman, and world-reknown illusionist David Copperfield. He performed magic semi-professionally and joined the Illinois Army National Guard to pay his way through college.
Curtis also works as a commercial printwork model and actor in television commercials and is represented by The Gregory Agency in Wichita, KS, and by Janis Kliethermes of The Agency Models and Talent in Kansas City. He also has many years of experience as a live theatre actor and singer. His live theatre credits include a run of John Bishop's Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 at the Wichita Community Theatre (Oct-Nov 2011), Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella", The Diviners, Kitchy Kitchy Koo, March of the Falsettos, Native Son, and the Mystery of Edwin Drood. He has recently been seen in printwork advertisements and promotions for Via Christi Regional Hospital, Intrust Bank, Cox Communications, and The Coleman Company. Most recently he was seen on-camera in a commercial television advertisement for Bumper-to-Bumper Auto Parts, Ribbitt Computers, Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, and a Gillette Pro Fusion commercial with the NFL Green Bay Packers player Clay Matthews.
Originally from St. Joseph, Illinois, he has also lived in Los Angeles, California, Virginia, Alaska, and Washington State, where he and his family lived for 11 years just outside of Tacoma. He currently lives in Valley Center (Wichita) Kansas, with his wife Ann of 22 years. They have two fabulous daughters: Amelia (21 yrs), who was recently married to Marine Sergeant Mark Grabowski, and is proudly serving active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, and Sarah (19 yrs) both currently living in North Carolina.
