Audience of One Mind!

Curtis the Mentalist performed before a convention of mostly high school students, an audience which is notoriously difficult to engage. Yet from his first illusion, Curtis had students participating, attentive and completely spellbound! His down-to-earth patter contrasted with his increasingly amazing mental magic illusions. The perfect attention-arresting act for our opening "Mission: I'm Possible" session!

Curtis Magic a big hit at Equity Bank Holiday Party

This was the second time we have had Curtis Magic entertain at one of our Bank's events. The first time he did strolling magic during our social hour. This time we had the complete stage performance. It is a facinating show with impossible illusions. Our group throughly enjoyed the show and we look forward to having Curtis Magic back in the future.

Curtis wows crowd at VIP Party for Cards for the Cure

The full-house crowd at the VIP Party for Cards for the Cure enjoyed Curtis' show. He mingled with guests throughout the 2-hour party and amazed them with his card and magic tricks. Glad I hired him! One of my guests told me he liked what he saw so much that he is going to hire him for his next corporate party. Thanks Curtis!

I first saw Curtis for a dinner show I attended on a Sunday evening and booked him the next day for an event I was planning the upcoming Friday. Even though the time frame was tight Curtis' communication and execution was flawless. The show kept the mixed aged crowd entertained and engaged. I'd definitely recommend Curtis for any event where you want that special something to put it over the top!

The Magic of Autumn was our fall festival theme at The Regent and Curtis was the main attraction. We are a new retirement community in town and the residents were absolutely amazed by his ability, enthusiasm, humor, and kindness! We are planning to have Curtis back to actually "teach" some magic to our residents. A very entertaining evening was had by all!!

Overview

For close-up magic for small groups, Curtis presents mesmerizing little "mini-shows" where several strange things happen; large coins travel invisibly through the air, dollar bills visibly change denominations while in plain view, playing cards eerily emerge from a normal deck of cards entirely on their own, spectator's finger rings penetrate a pen, pencil, fork, or other borrowed object, and he somehow divine's several lottery numbers that spectators were merely THINKING of! This is just a smattering of things that are experienced during Curtis' highly entertaining and theatrical close-up magic demonstrations.

For stand-up and stage shows, Curtis presents an unusual mixture magic and mentalism, revealing spectators thoughts and astonishing them with uncanny predictions and subtle psychological influences. It is a show that involves the entire audience and not only keeps them thinking, but is full of laughs as well. For shows requiring large illusions or spectacles, Curtis has rebuilt an old Houdini original illusion, escaping from handcuffs and a locked packing crate in an astonishing split-second transformation.

Whether your event is large or small, Curtis has an entertainment package that is guaranteed to make your event a huge success!

Additional Booking Notes

Wireless lavaliere or headset microphone and PA system with CD/mp3 music playback capabilities. I can provide a small, portable PA system for smaller groups up to 300-400 people.

Curtis Magic

Curtis Waltermire is a full-time professional magician, mentalist, and actor based in Wichita, Kansas. Forget your preconceived ideas of what a "magic show" is and experience something truly unique and memorable. Curtis' style is a refreshing blend of contemporary wit and charm, coupled with outlandish mind-reading stunts, impossible predictions, thought-control, and plenty of laughs. Curtis refers to it as "sleight-of-brain" entertainment. No shiny boxes, bunny rabbits, white doves, or scantily-clad women; it is simple, mind-bending and hilarious demonstrations that keep audiences fully engaged and entertained. It is mental magic for thinking people!

Whether it is special entertainment for your business or corporate event, restaurant, awards banquets, private clubs or organizations, or any other special occasion, Curtis has a presentation that will make any event one that people will never forget! He performs for numerous events each year nation-wide.

Like many of his fellow magicians and illusionists, he fell in love with magic at a very young age. He began performing at about age 10, and during his high school years began performing semi-professionally. He went on to study acting and theatre production at Parkland College during the late 1980s in Champaign, Illinois in order to enhance his individual performing style.

During his college years he worked for Andy Dallas (former President of the Society of American Magicians) at his Dallas & Co. magic shop. He also had the privilege of personally meeting some of his professional influences during those years, to include James Randi "The Amazing Randi", Albert Goshman, and world-reknown illusionist David Copperfield. He performed magic semi-professionally and joined the Illinois Army National Guard to pay his way through college.

Curtis also works as a commercial printwork model and actor in television commercials and is represented by The Gregory Agency in Wichita, KS, and by Janis Kliethermes of The Agency Models and Talent in Kansas City. He also has many years of experience as a live theatre actor and singer. His live theatre credits include a run of John Bishop's Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 at the Wichita Community Theatre (Oct-Nov 2011), Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella", The Diviners, Kitchy Kitchy Koo, March of the Falsettos, Native Son, and the Mystery of Edwin Drood. He has recently been seen in printwork advertisements and promotions for Via Christi Regional Hospital, Intrust Bank, Cox Communications, and The Coleman Company. Most recently he was seen on-camera in a commercial television advertisement for Bumper-to-Bumper Auto Parts, Ribbitt Computers, Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, and a Gillette Pro Fusion commercial with the NFL Green Bay Packers player Clay Matthews.

Originally from St. Joseph, Illinois, he has also lived in Los Angeles, California, Virginia, Alaska, and Washington State, where he and his family lived for 11 years just outside of Tacoma. He currently lives in Valley Center (Wichita) Kansas, with his wife Ann of 22 years. They have two fabulous daughters: Amelia (21 yrs), who was recently married to Marine Sergeant Mark Grabowski, and is proudly serving active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, and Sarah (19 yrs) both currently living in North Carolina. He is also a member of the Wizards of Wichita, local Ring #47 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
