A member of the Society of American Magicians Since 1974, Charles F Kerner has performed at Korner’s Folly, the Dahl Fine Arts Center, Grandover Resort, Bermuda Run Country Club, Groome Inn and countless private homes.

The acclaimed performances by Acts of Magic now border on the legendary. Many have left these shows feeling that magic does indeed exist and that their assumptions to the contrary may need to be revisited.

The overriding realization by many is that “what you believe is real… is real”. There is nobody more capable of shifting your perception of reality that the illusionist Charles F Kerner.

His performance is not just renowned but an experience that one never forgets.

A message from Charles:

I have been a magician and since my teens.

The productions I have directed have been my own performances. I have made it a priority for many years to learn design and production as it relates to magic.

In the mid-70s I attended UNC School of the Arts for a minuscule period and developed an interest in design, production and stage craft. Sadly this path was abandoned as I bowed to the pressure to pursue “a real profession”. (Don’t worry, this turns out okay). So after earning my Computer Science degree the fates led me to spend the next 30 years as a mainframe programmer on a number of different IBM series machines.

During this time magic was not abandoned nor was the study of stage craft. My short time at UNCSA gave me the knowledge of which books and disciplines to study. When I was called the “magic programmer” by my colleges it carried a duel meaning. Every few years I would write, produce and perform a new show.

Well wouldn’t you know my parents were correct about choosing a more lucrative profession? Via a three decade career in programming I have been able to take an early retirement.

Now that a suitable amount of discretionary time has been established, my full evening shows are created on a timelier basis. Over the years a pattern has developed. I build a new show during the long dark tea time of winter then perform it for a year.

I also perform for walkabouts, resort events, private festivities, lounges and conventions where I cherry-pick the best parts from my full evening shows to entertain my clients.

What to Expect

My performances are directed toward adults. My shows are rated NC-17 and considered 'magic for the thinking audience'. NC-17 does not mean "obscene" or "pornographic", and should not be construed as a negative judgment in any sense. The rating simply signals that the content is appropriate only for an intellegent adult audience.

Stage/Setup Requirements:
Access to electricity preferred but not required.
