Planning a Unforgettable Bachelor Party

The Bachelor Party is a very important tradition to most men. They are one step away from spending the rest of their lives with a woman always by their side. So this is the last night that is all about him. It’s a time to celebrate the future, but also live in the moment and have a rowdy good time with the boys. GigSalad will help you plan a Bachelor Party that the guys won’t soon forget...if they can remember it the next morning.

Hanging with the boys

There are a variety of things you can do for a bachelor party. It’s most known for being a night to party hard, so that will be the most popular plan. You can go out and bar hop or visit various clubs through the city. Or get out of town and take a weekend trip to somewhere wild like Las Vegas or Atlantic City. If you plan to move from location to location, be safe and hire a limousine or party bus to provide transportation. Movies like The Hangover give the impression that a good bachelor party is one you have trouble remembering, but that does not have to (and probably should not) be the case. There are a lot of good ideas that don’t involve waking up with a severe headache and temporary amnesia. Popular ideas include camping, hunting, or float trips. Or, if the season is right, take a the groom and his closest friends to root on his favorite team at a sporting event.

Another idea, which may be more affordable for all involved, is to have a private party for the groom. Host a party at a house or rent out a private room at a restaurant or club. Regardless of location, be sure to set the date and get the invitations out early. If the groom has a lot of friends and family coming in from out of town for the wedding, you may want to plan the bachelor party for a couple days before the wedding, so they can come early and attend the festivities. Many will have the bachelor party the night before the wedding, and if you choose to do that, make sure the night doesn’t get too wild. The bride will want her man alert and sober for their big day!

Good music makes for good times

Good times with good friends may be all the entertainment you need for the bachelor party, but if you are throwing a party you may want to add a little something extra. There are a lot of options for entertainment, but the most popular is probably female entertainment. Hire a dancer to be the center of attention; perhaps a belly dancer or burlesque entertainment. You could also hire an iconic female impersonator like Marilyn Monroe, Madonna or Lady Gaga. Of course, female entertainment isn’t required or you can also have additional entertainment. If you are having a large party or have a private room at a restaurant or club you could hire a comedian to roast the groom or a magician to provide entertainment for a portion of the evening.

Another important part of any party is music. If it’s in your budget, consider bringing in a live band to play for the evening. Depending on the groom’s music tastes you could hire anything from a rock band to a country band, or even a hip hop group. Other popular options include cover bands, tribute bands and karaoke bands. If you don’t have the budget for a live band or just want to have more variety in your music, hire a DJ to handle all the tunes for the night.

Bring on the beer and line up the shots!

For any event where the guest list is comprised of all guys, the most important thing the party will need is food. If the plan is to go out on the town, then make your first stop at the groom’s favorite restaurant or just a popular sports bar and grill. If it’s going to be a private party instead, then you’ll want to provide the food yourself. Popular items for a simple bachelor party menu would be your typical "guy" foods; items like pizza, nachos, or wings. Or you can turn the party into a barbecue and throw some steaks, hamburgers, or brats on the grill. Add a couple bags of chips and you’re set. If you don’t want to handle the cooking, you can also bring in a caterer to make the food at the party or bring it already prepared. Then top of the meal with some delicious dessert. You can hire a cake decorator to make an awesome cake that relates to the groom’s interests; something like a mold of his favorite type of beer or a cake in the shape of his favorite sport’s ball or team logo.

Last but certainly not least...the drinks. The cliche of the bachelor party is that they are always wild and crazy and this is because the alcohol never runs dry. The most popular drink is usually beer so have a keg on hand or plenty of cases. Get a variety of brands and flavors so every guest can find something they like. To add to the celebration, also have some liquor on hand for the groom and guest to do shots. Hire a bartender to mix a variety of fun, flavored shots. They can also make some killer mix drinks for those at the party that aren’t that fond of beer. Another great option would be to hire a flair bartender instead. A flairtender can juggle and flip the bottles, providing entertainment AND great shots! Don’t forget about the guests that are playing designated driver or just do not wish to drink, so have soda and water on hand as well.

A guy’s bachelor party is (hopefully) a one time event and that’s why things tend to get a little wild. This is the pre-celebration of the biggest event of his life, so make the bachelor party truly unforgettable.
