Born and raised in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood, Zea draws deeply from the rich musical lineage of East Denver. He began on violin, started his first band in fifth grade with his friend Caleb, and soon picked up bass and guitar. By junior year of high school, he was chasing the craft in earnest—honing his voice at open mics, writing constantly, and envisioning a life in music.
After a year in Los Angeles with Caleb, Zea returned to Denver to pursue a solo path and connected with local musician Joel Ashmore. Together they recorded Zea’s debut, Copper Child—now with millions of streams on Spotify. Zea then forged a new chapter as the founder of The Copper Children, a national touring act that has spent over 10 years on the road and recently released its fourth studio album.
With more than a decade of live performance behind him, Zea—now 32—stands at the beginning of his most focused and inspired era yet. This is only the start.
