DFW native, Will Douglas has become one of the most prominent and versatile guitarists in the north Texas area. Starting his career under the apprenticeship of Professor Michael Daily and continuing with Professor Tom Johnson of The University of North Texas and privately with Adam Holzman of The University of Texas. Will has also performed for some of the top names in guitar including; Tom Sheeley, Virginia Luque, Thomas Kirchhoff, Dale Kavanagh, Johannes Moller, Eduado Fernandez, Eliot Fisk, Bruce Holzman and Oscar Ghiglia among many others. He made his concert debut in Guitar Fort Worth's Atrium Series in 2004 and attended the 2006 Acadia Guitar Festival in Nova Scotia, Canada and the 2008 and 2009 Iserlohn International Guitar Symposiums in Iserlohn, Germany. Will has also given solo baroque guitar and lute performances and played continuo in The University of North Texas' Collegium Musicum Baroque Orchestra, which performs operas, concerti and chambers works by the leading composers of the baroque. In December of 2008, Will took the presidential reins of Guitar Fort Worth and has continued as Artistic Director to help provided performances and educational opportunities to the Fort Worth community. In 2011 Will was invited as a guest lecturer and master class teacher at the 2011 Hamilton International Guitar Festival and has become a permanent faculty member since his initial invitation. He has taught as a guest artist at such renowned institutions as, The Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Will Douglas, finished his Masters in Music Performance degree at UNT and has since returned from the Graduate Diploma program in Eliot Fisk's studio at The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston to seek his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of North Texas. Will is currently a guitar instructor at The Guitar Studio in Fort Worth, TX, Adjunct Professor of Instrumental Studies in Guitar at Tarrant County College Northwest, Weatherford College, Arlington Baptist College and the director of the Lone Star Guitar Festival and Competition at Weatherford College.
Will's performance experience goes beyond the classical world. in 2011 he was invited to audition for a national touring country artist as his lead guitarist. Will was hired on the spot. In addition to country he has performed and instructed blues, jazz, flamenco, rock, heavy metal and many other popular styles.
As a staple in the Fort Worth guitar community, Will has played for countless weddings, parties and corporate functions in addition to his concert stage appearances. This artist seeks to provided the very best atmosphere for your event and will surely delight your guests!
Solo guitarists travel light for quick setup and tear down times. Please let me know if your venue is large or outdoor so that I can provide any amplification that the venue will not.
