The West Philly Foot Tappers play a mix of hot gypsy jazz and sultry standards of the Prohibition Era. The music of Django Rheinhardt is a major ingredient but romantic ballads, New Orleans jazz, tango and klezmer are all part of the mix. Not a stuffy museum piece, this band brings a fire to traditional jazz and know how to rock a party. Available anywhere from a trio to a six piece band, with male and female lead vocalists.

May 7, 2023Thank you, West Philadelphia Foot Tappers for making our wedding day so special. This is my favorite kind of jazz music. You even did Paper Moon! I’m so glad I got to share my love of your style of music with our guests and have them say that you were perfect! And wow this is the coolest music! All the musicians were so impressive. The clarinet and the fiddle sounded beautiful and they gave us the melody of the syncopated tunes, and oh my goodness I’ve never seen a double bass slapped like that!! Thank you for making our feet tap!

May 24, 2022West Philly Foot Tappers were so amazingly perfect for our 20th Wedding Anniversary! The communication in advance was so simple and prompt, they showed up and set up with zero supervision and proceeded to play wonderful music for 4 hours!!! Our guests absolutely loved them and they were the perfect sound track to what was a perfect day!!! I would definitely hire them again and will try to get out to see them play!

October 28, 2019The West Philly Foot Tappers, other than being incredibly thoughtful, kind, and flexible, are super talented and beautifully put-together. They set-up early, played the whole night for us, and had people dancing and talking about their music. They added a great "speak-easy" vibe to our benefit, which had a 20s-50s film noir theme. Without them, we would not have had the vibe and theme we were trying to capture, but they were the glue that held the whole night together. We are so thankful to them for helping us with our benefit and would definitely recommend them to everyone!

For a band that plays historic styles of jazz, diversity is our musical trademark. We can provide low-key melodic cocktail hour ambience, we can also pitch our performance at a level to hold a boisterous bar crowd's attention. Music of the era we cover has a natural nostalgic quality and elegance, but we bring excitement and instrumental virtuosity as well. We often feature male and female lead vocalists. We have a swing dance set and a set that dives deep into the Eastern European, gypsy and klezmer influences of our music. We can play for hora dancing or a cabaret.
The "A team" band includes acoustic guitar, upright bass, jazz violin, jazz mandolin and clarinet. We also sometimes work a variety of horn players and banjo. With the "A team" configuration we can play acoustically in intimate settings where a rock cover band would be too loud and inappropriate. In even smaller settings, we perform as a trio.
We perform in period dress and can provide a variety of levels of PA sound support, including interim music between sets.
Originally started as a 3-piece busking project in 2016, the number of musicians and singers has expanded as the repertoire has grown. We can cover a number of bases, from sultry standards to scorching gypsy rippers. From quiet cocktail event to high-energy swing dance party, we can cover a number of moods, including diving deep into Eastern European music, klezmer, gypsy and New Orleans traditional jazz.
