The First Call

As always, I was frantic coming up with last minute Birthday party ideas for my mother’s 81st birthday. I was set on having a string trio, play Happy Birthday for her as well as have a little-mini concert in our living room. I googled... gigsalad, registered, set my budget and prayed it wasn't a scam.

I had several quotes in my inbox instantly, all charging at the limit of my budget and over... Whoops! I should have lowered my budget.

Then Wil from The First Call contacted me. I reviewed their work and we negotiated a good price based upon industry standards and bam it was set!

I am pleased to report the birthday was a huge success! We had the fire going, they set up elegantly in the living room facing my mother and gracefully played for her. It was so moving my mother was getting misty, they detected it and then switched up to lighter songs. They took requests as well, this was an amazing and wonderful experience :)

Wil (the owner) and soon to be Dr. Wil, Adam and Katarina were all so accommodative, friendly, personable and professional, they felt like old friends coming to play in our living room. Not to mention I only gave them 48 hours notice and he was able to pull it off! Communication was effortless and seamless as well!

Finally, these guys play for the love of the music, not for the money. He charged what single violinist quoted and answered any questions about the pieces they played, the history of their instruments – Wil is the head music teacher at his local highschool, due to defend his music dissertation so the will only get better and I will be hiring them in the spring for sure!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about The First Call. They performed for my daughter’s engagement on Addison Street in Philadelphia, and they were absolutely amazing. From the very first interaction, they were incredibly responsive, kind, and genuinely invested in making the moment special.

Will and his band were absolutely phenomenal! From the very beginning, Will coordinated early, made sure every detail matched my vision, and delivered beyond expectations. Their talent and professionalism set the tone for the entire evening. They perfectly captured the 1920s theme of smooth jazz, lively rhythms, and that authentic speakeasy energy. The small space made the performance feel intimate and immersive, and they even timed their music beautifully to accompany a showgirl burlesque act, which had the entire crowd captivated. Their performance truly made the Halloween party the hit that it was. I couldn’t have asked for a better band. Highly recommended for anyone looking to create an unforgettable atmosphere!

The First Call was incredible for our wedding ceremony! They went above and beyond, expertly learning and playing our requested recessional song not typically in their rotation. They also offered a multitude of songs ranging many genres and provided lovely music for the guests during the reception. On top of that, they were very responsive during the booking process, and simply kind and pleasant people to work with. The First Call truly made our wedding so special and memorable, and we simply couldn’t recommend them enough!!

Our senior residents can be tough music critics at times, but they all thoroughly enjoyed the performers from The First Call! They loved the terrific music first and foremost, and they also appreciated the light banter and personal touches from the performers. They are still raving about the performance several days later! Everything about the experience was top-notch and done with absolute professionalism. We are looking forward to hiring The First Call again for more performances in the future!
