About
Violet Samudra is a fusion of passions from the East mixed with sounds from the West. Fronted by guitarist/composer Steve Booke, the band blends sounds from the Middle East and India to arrive at a very unique musical place.
Steve Booke, known for film and television soundtrack work is a graduate of Berklee College of Music. He has appeared on countless recordings with noted musicians from around the world. His music is used extensively on popular cable and network shows such as the Oprah Winfrey Show, A&E, Discovery Channel, VH-1 and MTV.
Ray Ippolito has performed and/or recorded with such musical legends as Baba Olatunji, Eddie Henderson, Mark Whitfield, Frank Colon and Dr. John. Ray has shared the stage with Al DiMeola, Arif Sag, Mordy Ferber, Badal Roy just to name a few, in places all over the world such as Japan, Venezuela, India, Nepal and of course N.Y.C.
Lisa Liu is a graduate of the Juilliard school of music with a master's in violin perfromance. She has played venues such as Madison Square Garden, Continental Arena, Jones Beach Theatre, Radio City Music Hall, Beacon Theatre, Hammerstein Ballroom, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, The Whitney Museum. She has also shared the stage and/or recorded with: Don Omar, Elton John, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Lamb, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Aerosmith, Wyclef Jean, Wynonna, Michael Mcdonald, Enya, Celine Dion, Victor Calderone, Junior Vasquez, Vivian Green, Mahavishnu Project, Sara Haze, Dangerous LLC and has been on network TV shows such as: “The View,” “Good Morning America,” “The Today Show,” “Late Night With Conan O'Brien,” “CBS’s Macy's Thanksgiving Parade Special”, “NBC's Rockefeller Christmas Special,” “AOL Live Studio Sessions,” “Live w/ Regis and Kelly”
Dibyarka Chatterjee was born in Kolkata (and spent first 10 years of his life there), where he was already performing for the All India Radio as a child prodigy. Shortly afterwards, he moved to the U.S. with his family, he was recognized for his talent by music lovers and tabla enthusiasts and started performing with his father (Samir Chatterjee) and in group performances composed and directed by him. Beside these, he has also performed with the Dance Theater of Harlem, NYC, with the Battery Dance Co. in “Songs of Tagore”, with Janaki Patrick in “Ka-Tap”, with Smt. Lakshmi Shankar, Pt. Ramesh Mishra, Pt. Samarendra Sikdar, Smt. Shubhra Guha, Sri Partha Bose, Sri Debojyoti Bose, Sri Snehasish Mozumder, Sri Anirban Dasgupta, Smt. Tripti Mukherjee, Steve Gorn, Hidayat Khan and others. He has performed in some prestigious venues like the Indian Consulate (NYC), City Center (NYC), Lincoln Center (NYC), World Bank Auditorium (DC) as well as many others.
