LJ Mounteney
With a dynamic voice and engaging personality, LJ’s high energy performances and perfectly pitched vocals have been winning her legions of fans among music lovers and musicians alike. Her impressive repertoire stems from her love of jazz, blues, pop, R&B, and big band swing era music. A busy working musician, she not only leads Undercover but appears in several other projects including her trio show Singers and Stringers and with Van Django at Christmas.
In addition to the above projects, LJ is currently working with Jon Roper on a new album of original blues set to release in 2020.
Nathen Aswell
Nathen Aswell is a multi-talented musician excelling in several instruments (bass, electric upright bass, Chapman Stick, NS Stick) as well as being a top notch vocalist. His soulful vocals and playing have enabled him to tour internationally as both leader and sideman and he keeps busy in several groups in Vancouver - Undercover, The Wilds , and as the new lead vocalist (alongside Joani Bye) in The R&B Allstars.
Daryl Jahnke
Daryl Jahnke is one of Vancouver’s finest guitarists, having performed and toured across Japan, the UK, USA, and Cuba with several notable jazz musicians. Daryl’s eclectic and versatile approach to his playing, and deep passion about how listeners connect to that playing, results in spontaneity and beautifully crafted improvised moments. Daryl is a sought after teacher and mentor heading up the guitar department at VCC since 2012.
Kristian Braathen
A talented drummer, Kristian Braathen has cruised the world (1998/99) and toured extensively in North America with BB King bassist Russel Jackson ((phone number hidden)3). Kristian self produced his debut jazz CD 'Tempus Fugit' features two award-winning, highly respected Canadian jazz musicians - pianist Miles Black and bassist Jodi Proznick.
Kristian holds a Jazz music degree from Capilano University and has furthered his studies with drum luminaries Jeff Hamilton and Kenny Washington (via a BC Arts Council grant). He is also pleased to have endorsements by Japanese company Canopus Drums and Turkish company Istanbul Cymbals.
In addition to leading his jazz trio PK3, Kristian is the drummer for Undercover and freelances in the Vancouver jazz and blues community.
