The Tim Hartis Jazz Trio plays often in the greater Charlotte NC area for receptions, dinners, anniversaries, weddings, dances, and parties. The instrumental trio of pianist, bassist and drummer plays great American jazz songs, including swing, Latin, ballads, blues, waltzes, and ragtime. The trio can add light pop and R&B songs upon request.
The trio can also play as a vocalist, pianist, and bassist. The band also performs as a quartet. A vocalist or saxophonist plays with the pianist, bassist, and drummer. The band can play as quintet, with a vocalist and saxophonist added to the trio. When performing as a quartet or quintet, the band often uses the name JazzGroupProject.

November 25, 2024Tim, Ben, and Keith were booked for a Spartanburg ArtWalk event at The Johnson Collection at short notice, but they happily agreed to organize a setlist for roughly three hours of music. They were very professional and set up and packed up quickly and carefully. Their friendly demeanor allowed visitors to wander around looking at the art or sit and comfortably enjoy the music.
We were all touched and impressed by Tim's set list, where he paired each artwork in the gallery with a tune from the era. Everyone enjoyed the music thoroughly, but Tim's explanations connecting the art to the music received several appreciative comments from visitors. Thank you!

August 20, 2024Tim and his jazz trio played for our elders during our France themed event and they were phenomenal! They were wonderful interacting with our residents during their performance and created a beautiful set list inspired by France. Definitely recommend them for future shows!

March 1, 2024We had the Tim Hartis Jazz Trio perform for a special event at our senior living community this week and they were absolutely amazing! They made an extra effort to play music from the 1940's era of our event, interacted beautifully with everyone, and were sensitive to the individual needs of our residents. They are incredibly talented, and we will definitely book them again for future performances.

February 19, 2024We booked the Jazz Band Trio for an event and the band was nothing short of phenomenal! If you're looking for a professional group that will make sure you get exactly what you're looking for, then this is the group for you. We booked them for a Valentine's Day event and they came prepared with all the love songs and made sure the sound levels were perfect for the room. Couldn't recommend them enough and we will be booking them again!

Tim is a Winthrop University graduate. He is retired from The Herald, Rock Hill's daily newspaper. He lives in Rock Hill with his wife, Edith. They have one grown daughter. The Tim Hartis Jazz Trio has played music in the greater Rock Hill SC area since 1996. Tim plays bass guitar in the trio, which plays swing, Latin and other styles of music. He has played guitar, keyboard, and bass in many bands over the years, including Top-40, country, jazz, and variety.
