JMS Jazz

JMS Jazz is one of Charlotte NC’s top jazz groups. We able to play jazz, latin and light pop in "background music" environments such as cocktail parties, wedding or corporate cocktail events, rehearsal dinners, public or private club functions, or any event that needs a touch of class and sophistication.

We require a minimal stage footprint, and are able to set up and break down quickly, making your event transitions seamless.

JMS Jazz can be configured or most client requirements or budgets - from a duo to a full band with horns and vocals. Vocalist options are offered as well. Please inquire for details.

JMS Jazz is the latest offering from veteran bassist John Shaughnessy. Live jazz and light pop for your wedding ceremony, cocktail or reception, Corporate event, Private event, music club etc. as background music or a featured artist. We are able to perform as a two piece band up to a full jazz band with horns, depending on your needs and budget.
John is an award winning bassist with decades of experience in the music industry performing Jazz, R&B and Pop music. The musicians involved with JMS Jazz have decades of experience playing on stages all over the world.

For most gigs, our performance needs are pretty simple:
1) we require a level and dry performance area. if performing outdoors, we need to be on a raised stage or hard surface such as a concrete patio. For safety reasons, we can't perform on grass or uneven surfaces.
2) if performing outdoors, we prefer the area to be covered. if this is not possible access to a portable tent is required in the event of inclement weather.
3) we require access to a 120v powered outlet for our exclusive use, a reasonable (less than 20') distance from the stage.
5) while we are able to move easily, multiple setup/breakdowns on the same day will incur a fee for each instance past the initial site.
6) If the event will be large enough to require additional sound reinforcement (ie more than 100 guests) please contact John for sound and space requirements.
7) for certain jobs, vendor meals may need to be included as part of the contract.

Other than that, we are self contained, with a small footprint and easy setup and breakdown

NOTE: Unless specifically contracted, JMS Jazz travels with personal amplification only, and does not travel with a PA system or microphones available for public use.
