If you come to see me play Funk/Hip-Hop/R'n'B, you will get an engaging encouraging lively stage performance with a large amount of crowd interaction and "hype manning." I'm pretty proud of how I engage a crowd and make them feel empowered, a good deal of old-school funk bravado in for good measure.
If you hire me for any type of restaurant gig you will get a both engaging but detached free-flowing set that is agreeable but non-intrusive to listeners
If you hire me in the studio, my work will be fast, concise, and timbrally unique but familiar.
If you hire me to produce, I will write with you directly to craft music that suits your emotional needs and has both organic and old-school fillings. You will absolutely have fun working in the studio - first and foremost.
Misha “Silky” Savage is a musician residing in Brooklyn. A graduate of SUNY New Paltz’ Jazz Studies program on guitar, he’s spent his post-grad years residing in NYC wearing many hats – Running a Jam Session in Harlem, Broadcasting with SiriusXM, Producing and Transcribing Beats for Local MCs, Composing Horns and Strings, Teaching Guitar, Booking sets across several prodigious venues, and acting as an on-demand Hype-Man / Host – he’s certainly not one-track minded – using the term Cultural Curator to describe his multi-faceted efforts.
His primary groove-vehicle these days is a Funk/Afrobeat/Reggae group known as The Saturators while also performing frequently with The Harlem Sessions. In addition, Misha runs a daily run-down of NYC’s premier Jazz, Funk, Reggae, Hip-hop, and Alternative live-music events via his #TonightinTunesNYC moniker (available here and on twitter/fb). He has worked with artists such as NOMBE, and Jackie Gage in addition to numerous MCs and and Hip-hop Groups through his Funkaholics Anonymous jam session.
He currently Teaches through St. Nicks Alliance in Brooklyn, and BEAT GLOBAL in Queens.
