About
Dr. Kenisha Coon-Santiago is a TEDx speaker, PhD researcher, author, and nationally recognized leadership and systems change strategist dedicated to helping organizations create meaningful, lasting change. With more than 15 years of experience spanning child welfare, government, technology, nonprofit leadership, and organizational consulting, she specializes in leadership development, psychological safety, systems transformation, and evidence-informed decision-making.
Kenisha's work bridges research and practice. Her doctoral research examined how evidence-based coaching influences decision-making and culturally responsive practice among child welfare professionals, and she translates those findings into practical strategies leaders can implement immediately. She is also the creator of the PERSIST Framework™, a leadership model that helps organizations navigate change while building trust, accountability, resilience, and sustainable results.
As a legally blind leader and lived-experience advocate, Kenisha brings a unique perspective to every stage. Her keynote presentations combine compelling storytelling, research, humor, and actionable tools that leave audiences inspired long after the event ends. She has presented at state and national conferences, facilitated executive leadership trainings, and partnered with organizations across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Whether speaking to corporate leaders, government agencies, educators, healthcare professionals, or nonprofit organizations, Kenisha's goal is the same: to help people think differently, lead intentionally, and create systems where both individuals and organizations can thrive.
Additional booking notes
To ensure the best experience for your audience, I request a wireless lavalier or headset microphone (preferred) or a handheld microphone for smaller groups, a projector or large display with HDMI connectivity, and the ability to advance presentation slides. Because I am legally blind, I appreciate access to the stage and presentation area before the event to familiarize myself with the layout and identify any steps, cords, or obstacles. A confidence monitor is helpful but not required. I am happy to tailor my presentation to your venue and can present both in person and virtually.

Influences and inspiration
My work is deeply influenced by visionary leaders who combine courage, authenticity, and a commitment to creating lasting change. Michelle Obama has inspired my approach to leading with grace, purpose, and resilience. Minda Harts has shaped how I think about leadership, belonging, and creating opportunities for women of color in the workplace. I also draw inspiration from Brené Brown's research on courageous leadership, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision for justice and collective action, and the legacy of Black women changemakers like Maya Angelou and bell hooks. Their work, combined with my own lived experiences as a legally blind, queer, biracial woman and systems change leader, has influenced a speaking style that is honest, research-driven, empowering, and rooted in creating meaningful change.
