Set list

The Magic Duel features four rounds of competition based on categories selected by members of the audience. In a typical show, these might include Sleight of Hand, Escapes, Mentalism, and Classics of Magic. In the second part of the show, members of the audience become the magicians, destroying and miraculously restoring borrowed money, reading each other's minds, and predicting another person's dream vacation. The show closes with a Mental and Mathematical tour de force performed simultaneously by Mark and Ryan.

Influences and inspiration

Part Penn and Teller, part Abbott and Costello, Mark Phillips and Ryan Phillips (no relation) have created dueling stage personas based on differences in generation, point of view, level of seriousness and preferred necktie knot. Their highbrow "workplace conflict" humor has been compared to The Office or Parks and Recreation. Their skill has been compared to the top magicians in New York or Las Vegas.
