The Fabulously Rich is a live tribute to The Tragically Hip. The band formed in 2016 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The idea came about when the news broke that Gord Downie had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. The Fabulously Rich has come together to pay tribute to this monumental Canadian band, while at the same time, helping to raise money for the Downie Wenjack fund, making donations for each show they play. It’s always an incredible party and for such a great cause.

We are a Tragically Hip Tribute band. We typically play 30-35 songs in a show, and our preference is to perform straight through without breaks. Typically this lasts about 3hrs in total. We can take a mid-set break if it's preferred by the planner. We travel with professional equipment and take great pride in our sound and fidelity.
Typically, we require the organizer to provide sound and lighting however, we have several partners we work with and can provide a quote for this as well if required.
We grew up on the music of The Tragically Hip. We played it in our first bands, and it became a part of us. When Gord Downie's illness hit the headlines, we knew we had to take action. We decided to host a Fundraiser in December 2016 in our hometown, Charlottetown, to raise money for Gord.
From the very first rehearsal, we knew we had something special. The energy was undeniable, and it didn't take long after that first show for the word to spread like wildfire. Since then, we’ve performed in front of tens of thousands and cultivated an incredible following of our own.
We have a profound respect for The Hip, their music, and what it means to their fans, and we know we have a responsibility to deliver it properly or not at all. We're not here to imitate or impersonate; our mission is to recreate that indescribable experience of being at an authentic Hip show. We strive to capture every musical and vocal nuance, ensuring that the essence of the music remains intact.
In a twist of fate, our lead singer, Dennis Ellsworth, forged a genuine friendship with Gord Downie himself. Their connection led to an extraordinary collaboration—a musical rendition of Gord's poignant poem, "Coke Machine Glow," which found its place on Dennis's Hazy Sunshine album. The recording took place at none other than The Tragically Hip's renowned Bathhouse Studio in Bath, ON.
Join us on this remarkable journey as we pay homage to The Tragically Hip and share our love for their music. Let's create unforgettable moments together, channeling the spirit of those legendary shows that touched our souls. Together, we'll keep the music alive, celebrating the magic that made The Tragically Hip an iconic force in Canadian music history.

Below is a list of our technical requirements. This is not meant to cause any inconveniences; it is intended to optimize effectiveness on the day of the show. If there are any questions or if you have trouble providing anything in this document please get in touch with us before the day of the show, and we will be happy to work with you on a solution.
Instrumentation
● Drum Set (4pc - Kick, Snare, Rack Tom, Floor Tom)
● Bass Guitar
● 2 Electric Guitars
● 3 Acoustic Guitars
● Vocals (Lead Vocal and Drum Vocal)
Monitoring
We travel with our own monitoring rack consisting of a Behringer X32 Rack (32 Channel Rackmount Console), a 16 Channel Passive Splitter snake, and Wireless + Hardwired IEM packs. All stage connections will be routed into our splitter snake mounted in the monitoring console rack. Once split, a feed is directed to the X32, and the other to output fantails that can be used for FOH. (Channel list at the end of this document). Phantom Power will be supplied by our console.
Front of House
We assume that there is a well-sized PA system provided with a minimum of 16 channels and sufficient power to supply a clean and undistorted 110dB SPL to the mixing desk. If possible, additional front fill should be employed for those standing in front of the stage or side stage.
Stage, Sound & Lighting Notes
We prefer an overall natural sound with minimal processing, and light effects (i.e., reverb on the vocals). Lighting & effects can be discussed during soundcheck. If drapery is available, it should cover the back of the stage.
Soundcheck Notes
● A closed soundcheck with band/technical crew is preferred whenever possible.
● The band will typically play a few songs for soundcheck, one with Acoustic guitar(s) and a few without.
Arrival
The promoter or another representative should be at the venue at the arrival time. We will require a safe parking space close to the venue for an SUV + 12’ Trailer.
Please provide at least one day before the show:
● Complete address of the venue,
● Telephone contact,
● Arrival time,
● Soundcheck time,
● Doors open and
● On-stage time.
