Dr. Michelle Brooks-Thompson is a Grammy-nominated Indie Recording Artist, who is a former finalist of NBC’s the Voice (Season 3) and is the 2017 winner of the famous legendary Amateur Night at the Apollo (New York), and 2022 winner of Unsung Heroes (Music Room-Cape Cod), and winner of over 20 vocal competitions!

Since competing on The Voice & winning Amateur Night at the Apollo, Michelle’s versatile & phenomenal singing ability has privileged her to grace a multitude of diverse musical platforms across the country. She has become known by all as a dynamic powerhouse vocalist! As quoted by Maroon 5’s front man and NBC’s the Voice vocal coach Adam Levine, “Michelle has been gifted with a supernatural singing ability.” Michelle’s vocal tone and power is highly compared to the late musical icon, Whitney Houston. She has often been referred to the “Whitney Houston of Gospel music.”

As an Independent Recording Artist, Worship Leader, and private Vocal Teacher, Michelle has consistently performed at various indoor and outdoor concert venues, sporting events, private functions, and on notable national TV programs such as Dr. Bobby Jones Presents (Impact Network), TBN’s Praise the Lord, the Bishop Eric Lloyd Show (Rhema Network), PBS Kids Rhode Island Polly Wog Pond, and more. THE VOICE OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM:

It is her extraordinary voice and striking presence that has captivated audiences, making her rich vocals synonymous with delivering the National Anthem as well as God Bless America at countless major sporting events for the NBA, NFL, MLS, NHL, and MLB! On May 22, 2025, Michelle was honored with a citation from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Veteran Services for her outstanding rendition of the National Anthem at the Massachusetts Inaugural Military Appreciation Day Ceremony held at the Massachusetts State House. In 2011, she was winner of the inaugural Boston Red Sox “Sing Your Way to Fenway” National Anthem competition and has performed consistently for the Boston Red Sox since winning. She proudly serves as the National Anthem singer for the Boston Fleet of the National Professional Women’s Hockey League, performing for all three of their inaugural seasons. In addition, she has served as the national anthem singer for the Boston Celtics since 2014, and the Cleveland Cavaliers team since 2023. THE MBT MUSIC EXPERIENCE LIVE BAND:
In addition to her solo musical recording career, Michelle’s band “The MBT Music Experience,” partnered with Hank Agency (Boston), has had parallel musical success! Michelle was one of the first local artists to be booked at the new MGM Casino in Springfield, Massachusetts. In 2018 Michelle was a headlining artist for the MGM Summer Concert Series and the casino’s first VIP New Years Eve party. As a highly sought-after vocal performer in this region, Michelle and her band has not only headlined the MGM’s summer concert series but also the 2021 NBA Hall of Fame Enshrinement Concert, 2022 Baystate Noble Ball, Springfield’s Faith Festival, Festival of Trees (3 consecutive years), the Springfield BID’s Annual Jam Fest, New Haven CT’s Arts & Ideas Festival, the Apollo Music Café, and many private & corporate events!

Michelle's vocal prowess spans multiple genres, including Gospel, Smooth Jazz, Inspirational, Blues and R&B Soul, making her a highly sought after singer and collaborator within the music industry. Her music releases have consistently charted on various billboards both in the U.S. and internationally.
Her music projects which include the singles “The Fury’s Blues” (Grammy Nominated 2025), “Never Give Up” (2022), “Phenomenal” (2022), and “Woman First” (2021), have charted consecutively on the music Billboards and reaching the #1 spot (Adult R&B Top 100 Chart, Gospel Billboard Indicator Top 30 Charts, Gospel Top 50 Internet Radio Chart, Smooth Jazz Top 100 Chart, Billboard National Airplay Chart, and Billboard Gospel Indicator Most Added Chart). In 2022, Michelle released several successful singles, including "Then I Met You” and "Live It Up," which made an impressive mark on the charts. They reached #1 on the Top 30 UK Soul Music Charts and gained traction on the Amazon UK Top 100 New Releases and iTunes UK and Brazil Top 100 R&B Releases, among other prestigious international music rankings.

MUSIC AWARDS: Michelle has earned multiple nominations and accolades within the Gospel and Secular music industry. In February 2025, she received her first Grammy nomination for her vocal feature on the album “The Fury” by Antonio Vergara. In October 2024, she received an award for Best Soul and Inspirational Artist of the Year at the GBOS 56th Annual Celebration Gala.
Her song "Woman First" was particularly noteworthy, garnering four nominations from Kingdom Sound Radio Broadcast, including Most Impact Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Female Urban Artist of the Year, and Inspirational Artist of the Year, where she emerged as the winner in 2022. Additionally, her Gospel track "Never Give Up" received recognition on the first-round ballot for the 2022 Dove Awards in the Traditional Song of the Year category, as well as the Grammys first round ballot for Best Gospel Song Performance. Furthermore, this single helped her secure four more nominations at the Dunmas Gospel Awards (Burlington, NC) for overall Artist of the Year and Female Artist of the Year, in addition to being nominated as National Female Soloist of the Year and National Inspirational Artist of the Year at the Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards in Houston, TX.

Michelle released her first Inspirational EP in 2015 entitled “My Life’s Testimony’’ featuring her single, “When I Think.” The EP featured smoothed sounds infused with Gospel, Jazz, and R&B elements. Her EP ultimately led to three award nominations in the 2016 Rhythm of Gospel Awards, an Independent Gospel Artist Music Awards platform. In August 2017, she released her second independent single titled “I Am Triumphant," which was instantly added to 60+ US and International radio stations. Michelle’s single debuted on the national BDS reporting charts for Gospel Music as “Most Added Song” in September 2017. In 2018 Michelle was a 4x nominee in the Season 11 Prayze Factor Awards and won Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year.

COMMUNITY AWARDS
Michelle is not only influential in music but her community and abroad. She received an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Humanities from United College and Seminary International on July 19th, 2025, in Chicago, IL. On September 25th, 2025, she received the Emerging Leader Award from the Central New England Better Business Bureau organization, where she made history as the first arts-based business to receive the award. In June 2024, she was honored with a Citation from Mayor William C. Reichelt (West Springfield, Mass.) for outstanding contributions to music! In January 2023, she received the Community Leadership Award by New Year Better Us Organization (Springfield, MA) and the Black in Excellence on the Hill Award by the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus. In June 2022, Michelle was awarded the Community Impact Award for Outstanding Gospel Vocalist and Artist Spotlight Award by FPAD non-profit organization (Conyers, GA). She has received several other awards from churches and community organizations.

BEYOND THE STAGE:
As a result of Michelle’s musical success, she was nominated and inducted into the national Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy and the Grammy Recording Academy. With her love for young people in the musical arts and athletics, she founded “Heart of The Earth;” a nonprofit organization which helps youth use their musical and athletic talents to transform their lives. Michelle is a wife, mother of 3, former Bank Manager Vice President, philanthropist, and motivational speaker.
