I am a native Jackson-villain. (I think that's right...at least I think it makes me sound pretty cool.) I have lived here for 37 years. So supporting me supports local artists!!!
I have been performing magic professionally in some capacity since I was 20 years old. I started with birthday parties for friends and family eventually bringing magic to the masses. I branched out to different things like stage shows, illusions, and even side show acts. However, to quote a friend of mine, " Simple things done well are what hit hard." - Andrew Ratliff. I live by this saying now. I even tailor my magic to it.
I found my passion in Street Performing, Parlor magic, and Close up magic. This more intimate setting allows me to connect with the audience better. I feel like the stage doesn't allow a good connection between magician and audience. I realize that it is people that help my effects better. I never know what I am going to get from each performance. People, not the magician, are the ones that make the show memorable. At least in my opinion.
I call myself the Conjurer of Cheap Tricks for a couple of reasons.
1. I really like The Lord of the Rings series. There is one scene where Gandalf says to Bilbo, " Bilbo Baggins, Do not take me for some Conjurer of Cheap Tricks!!!" Well....I am a Conjurer of Cheap Tricks. Ergo, the name.
2. It also fits my philosophy. My party show, fits in your living room. I pack small but the effects I bring are hard hitting. I just feel you shouldn't have to make extra space just for me.
