The Civic Resusictation Project
Overview
We all want to live in a community where we know help will be there when we need it the most, but it seems like a difficult journey to get there at this particular moment in time. I explore the intersection of CPR, First Aid, and civic engagement through this project, touching on challenges, motivators, and questions that linger for public safety as divisions and overall disconnectedness grow.

What to expect
Nathan brings an engaging style of speaking that both inspires and informs an audience of critical topics surrounding sudden cardiac arrest, civic engagement, emergency medical services, and other hot topics in community health and safety. He seeks to make a personal connection with his audience and has worked with multiple media styles to find ways to make messages heard.
About
Nathan is a paramedic and the Assistant Chief of Administration at Cumberland Goodwill EMS in Carlisle, PA. He came to Carlisle when he was 3 after his father was assigned to the U.S. Army War College. A 2004 graduate of Carlisle High School, Nathan then went on to graduate from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA with a BA in Political Science in 2008. After that, he traveled overseas to complete a Masters of Arts in TransAtlantic Studies from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland in 2010. He returned to his hometown and lives here today with his wife, and two daughters, Anastasia and Eleanora
Nathan has been with Cumberland Goodwill since 2002, when he started as a junior volunteer firefighter. His passion for the company grew from volunteer member to part time employee into his full-time career. In addition to emergency response, he is active in public relations and community outreach, regularly speaking and sharing on ways to stay safe at home, work, or play. His other duties at Cumberland Goodwill involve quality improvement, information technology support, and director of public CPR and AED initiatives.
Nathan was recognized in 2019 as one of the world's 40 Under 40 leaders in Resuscitation advocacy by the Citizen CPR Foundation, where he later served on a committee encouraging young leaders to help save lives. He has served as Treasurer of the American Trauma Society – PA Division, a member of the Board of Directors at the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council, regional chair of the QI committee at the Emergency Health Services Federation, and a participant on a variety of other local and regional councils looking at how to improve life for those in our community. Nathan was the (phone number hidden)2 Carlisle High School Band Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient. He holds a current US amateur radio license at the general level. Finally, Nathan is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish and a former member and past chair of the Carlisle Parks and Recreation Board.
